Meet Sabrina Zukowski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Zukowski.

Hi Sabrina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, it all started when my middle school put on a play that we were all forced to watch for a grade. However, I was one of the few kids who was absolutely mesmerized by what I saw. That was the moment I decided to join my school’s drama program, and as soon as I did, I knew this was the career I needed to pursue. From there, my passion only grew stronger. I then dedicated all my time to putting on shows, competing, and running my high school’s drama program. I soon joined a cinematography program that I dedicated any spare minute I had to really dig into the behind the scenes and technical aspect of movie-making. I learned so much from this program that had led to several film opportunities for me and helped me discover my love for portrait photography. However, even this amazing program couldn’t fulfill the love I felt for acting. I started going to an acting studio in LA that changed my life. I trained and trained there with the most amazing people and instructors which led to my current representation and job with them. Today I am happily auditioning for amazing roles, starting a photography business, working at a fun acting studio where I work with the most adorable kids, and still produce and direct films!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think any journey to our dreams is smooth. It’s only natural that we run into obstacles. It’s once we overcome and prevail through these obstacles we are able to tell if this really is the right path for us and if we are able to handle it. Obstacles to me are just testing us for the real world. That being said, I’ve run into a few on my journey to where I currently am. Starting from personal family issues that led to me not being able to get started professionally as soon as I had hoped for, to falling for scams with false promises of success, to mentors/coaches that did more damage than improvement. I never had any family or connections to people in the business that I could reach out to for help navigating this tricky industry. So I really had to figure everything out for myself which resulted in taking steps back when I was told it would bring me forward. Fortunately though, through lots of trial and error, I was able to find amazing friends and an incredibly supportive team to help me get to where I am and will continue to be a part of my journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an actress, photographer, cinematographer, and director. I am probably much more well known for my editorial-style portrait photography or the music videos I make. Those are the things I am able to post about and outwardly brag about on social media since many of the films I make are unable to be publicly released due to certain film festival restrictions. However, I am primarily an actress as that has been and still is my main passion since I was 11-years old. Although, I am so happy to be able to be all of these things. I love being able to leave set after a day of filming, go home to edit stills from a photoshoot from earlier in the week, and rehearse for an audition all in the same day. It keeps things fun and exciting for me. All of these things I find genuine exhilaration from. Not only that, but I love working with the creatives and other enthusiastic souls I meet while doing what I love doing so much.

What are your plans for the future?
I am so stoked for the future. I only recently have broken into the acting world professionally with fantastic representation and I cannot wait to see where that leads me. I also have a few different film job opportunities lined up which I look forward to pursuing. Plus, I plan on really spending some time to get my photography business up and running. Of course while doing all this, I plan on continuing to improve my skills and knowledge in any and every way I can.
