Meet Sabrina Ofori of OhemaaLuxe Beauts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Ofori.

Hi Sabrina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always loved all things beauty! Specifically anything relating to hair. I am the sibling that helps with mom’s hair, sister’s hair, aunt’s hair…you name it. Growing up in Ghana, my aunt owned a salon in my grandmother’s house. At a very young age, I helped out in the salon and learned a lot from my aunt. I always enjoyed watching her work on her craft and being her helping hand. At five years old, that’s when I fell in love with all things hair. Fast forward to moving to the states, I found myself still pursuing and learning how to do hair from YouTube videos and various people. If you’re reading this Mrs. Yvonne’s and Irene, thank you for the times you allowed me to learn from you. Mrs. Yvonne in a period of my life actually took me as an apprentice where I sharpened some of my skills. I then took this serious and eventually started taking clients for myself. I was able to build the trust of my clients to the point where they trusted me enough to give me money to find them good hair for their desired styles (weaves to be exact). Their trust for me in finding them quality hair is what has led me to now being the owner of business that provides quality hair and luxurious wigs for women of all, OhemaaLuxe Beauts. Starting my business came with a lot of sacrifices but by the grace of God, those sacrifices we have all been worth it thus far. My trust in God, prayer life, hard work and wonderful clients has indeed kept me going.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business is never easy, especially one which is oversaturated. It was very difficult to make my business stand out because of this. I had to show why my products are worth purchasing. That was a challenge for me. I had some hiccups when beginning this journey of becoming a business owner, but knowing my goal and remaining focused allowed me to persevere. I juggled my 9-5 job (still do), nursing school and the business itself. Smooth? Yea, that was not in my vocabulary when I began this journey. I struggled with finances, time management, pricing, etc. I would say pricing my products was challenging for me. It was not challenging because I did not know how to price them. The challenge came when I would hear things like “your items are too expensive”. Knowing that my goal was to keep my customers happy and satisfied with an affordable price, I found myself throwing out discounts like nothing. I eventually learned that I was doing myself a disservice by doing so. I eventually came to terms with the fact that everyone cannot be my customer. I continue to learn as I grow my business. Despite the challenges, I have had many achievements and I continue to enhance my skills to provide the best for my customers.
