Meet Compton’s hair lady Ms. P

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ms. P.

Hi Ms. P, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m 23 from Compton, CA. I’m into all things beauty-related but hair is my thing! I love a good hairstyle, I never keep the same one too long. A lot of people took a liking to that and would always ask me “Where do you buy your hair?” and I would always give out free promo for companies. Once COVID-19 hit, I noticed a lot of these local hair businesses were slacking in the quality of hair they were selling and after numerous attempts and hundreds and hundreds of dollars later, I decided I wanted to directly contact and create personal relationships with vendors and finally I secured some amazing hair. After hearing how a lot of LA girls were tired of buying bad hair, I decided I wanted to change that, why not have them buy from me and promote myself!? I finally took a leap of faith and launched my business in June of 2021.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There were definitely a few hurdles in the road. I spent months and months testing quality, building bonds, parting ways, learning a lot about the business, and getting comfortable with promoting myself. Promoting yourself seems to be one of the hardest things but it’s easy to promote other people even when you’re doing it subconsciously. There’s always this thought of “what if nobody supports?” Or “Do they even see me?” But I’m learning, they ALWAYS see you just keep putting in the work. This is still the beginning for me, and when you’re living honest the road is a little longer but persistence is key. There’s been times where I’ve felt beyond overwhelmed with everything and just shut completely down but I have an amazing support system that have helped me realize I’m already doing what I set out to do, I just have to keep pushing myself and elevating.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have an online hair business. I sell human hair bundles, HD lace closures. and HD lace frontals. The hair I sell is a better quality than what’s typically on the market locally and I take pride in saying I believe my business will be BIG.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
It’d be a lie if I said I didn’t have any inspiration. I’ve watched my mom start her own notary/loan signing business and it took off in a year, my best friend becomes self-employed as a hairstylist doing what she loves and getting better daily and another person near and dear to me chase his dreams as an artist and constantly amazes me with each song, and they’ve all played a part in who I am today and I’m grateful for them. All my friends and my brand ambassadors really hold it down and promote my business consistently. Another one of my best friends keeps me level-headed and is always in my corner with the best encouragement. My people have been here from the beginning and have seen me go through every emotion. I love them.
