Meet Ruzanna Amyan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruzanna Amyan.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I crossed the world to get where I am now. I was born in Armenia and lived there for the first 25 years of my life. Never thought I’d live and create in LA some day but here I am. I was lucky to win the green card lottery and I made the scariest decision of my life. I left my family and friends and moved to LA. I didn’t know many people here and slowly started building a new life from scratch. I’ve been here for six years now and it took a very long time to figure my new life out.

Please tell us about your art.
I had a dream of designing clothes since I can remember My grandma that lived with us was a dressmaker and me and my sister would steal fabrics from her to make dresses for our dolls. I’ve been designing and creating clothes for several years now small projects working with amazing artists I met in LA. My design esthetic is about strong and at the same time dreamy woman. It’s all about how our clothing makes us feel and I want my clients to feel like there is nothing impossible in this life for them. Currently, I’m working on my new portfolio and I’m very excited to share it in the very near future.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
It’s not easy to find like-minded creative people to surround yourself as an artist. Through my experiences, I realized that I was too shy and didn’t have the confidence I needed to be able to share my work with others. I believe that if you really love what you do you should share it with the world and amazing opportunities will come your way. Don’t say no to things that might make you uncomfortable. It will pay off.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
For now, most of my work can only be found on my Instagram page @ruzannaamyan but as soon as my portfolio is complete, I will launch my website. A launch art show is also being planned and you will be able to find the details on my Instagram page soon.
