Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell Scott.
Russell, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Honestly, I never thought I would sell my paintings for commission. It has always been a silent hobby of mine I only shared as gifts to family, friends, and favorite teachers, but never imagined my work to grow immensely.
I started painting my senior year of high school and later picked it back up during my junior year of college, but still, then I was a bit modest about my art. I, at that time believed only trained artists could build a career from it. It wasn’t until this year during the pandemic that I decided to take a leap of faith and see where my art can take me.
Thus far it has been an amazing ride, I’m learning a lot about me, teaching myself new techniques, exploring new colors, and best of all sharing my work with the world. I’m excited about my new journey and looking forward to where it takes me. My only wish is to inspire others to leap into their creative spirits and allow it to take them to newer and undreamed measures.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say No, and Yes to has it been a smooth road: No, because it’s not easy being an entrepreneur with limited funds and know-how of certain elements. For example, I taught myself how to build my website from scratch, as well as proper methods to market myself to create revenue. Yes, because I am loving each moment and appreciating all of my triumphs and learning curves. I believe it’s only making me a better artist and businessman.
Please tell us more about your art.
I am an Artist in many forms, I dance, I create, and I paint. I specialize in abstract art paintings. I’m known for my creative ways of blending colors and my figurines that many refer to as my dancers in the paintings.
As a company, I am most proud of my site! I built it myself with the assistance of my wonderful friends. I am also overall proud of myself for trying and continuing to push myself further each day.
I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am a self-taught artist who not only focuses on the work I create for my clients but also in my aspirations. I wish to motivate others to follow their dreams in the world of fine arts. I believe this world is filled with so many talented young people who lack the chance to evolve into something greater than them. Even more, it is my utmost aspiration to become known as a person who made opportunities possible in areas others may have overlooked.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe passion, drive, and determination are the most important characteristics to have. You just can’t give up on yourself!
