Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Fremon.
Ruby, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started in April 2012 when I found myself at rock-bottom. I was no stranger to rock-bottom, but this was different.
On the outside, I looked like I had it all. I looked like I lived a very glamorous life as a marketing director for a nightlife company, working with some of the world’s top artists and DJ’s. But on the inside, I felt shattered and unfulfilled. I had an addiction that I denied, I was surrounded by toxic people, and I was holding onto a relationship that was highly manipulative. My life up until this point circulated around my depression, anxiety, addiction, and my vicious cycle of toxic relationships… and all of a sudden, it all came crashing down.
During this fall-to-the-floor moment, I realized something that would change my life forever…
I found myself at this place in my life due to an accumulation of my choices.
No one forced me to do drugs. No one forced me to drink. No one forced me to be in toxic relationships. I chose those things.
With that realization, I knew that if I had the power to create those choices, I also had the power to create other choices… healthier choices… choices that would lead me to a better life. So, I committed to changing my life.
I’d love to say that things were amazing from that point forward, but they weren’t. Over the next few months, I would sway between being healthy, and binge-partying. I would read self-development books, and then go off into the night and numb out. But that all ended in December 2012… I was high at a nightclub and I fainted, hitting the concrete floor head-first and knocking myself out. I ended up with a major concussion, followed by post-concussive syndrome for 2 full months. I couldn’t work… I could barely leave my apartment because I was in so much pain… and I slipped into a manic-depressive state.
Once I began to heal, I made the concrete decision to change my life. I knew that this was the Universe knocking me off my feet to prove a point, and I finally understood that point. I began to create real, lasting, positive shifts in my life and discovered my true purpose as a coach. So I went back to school and became a certified life coach… and the rest is kinda history.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No road worth traveling is smooth.
My journey was full of bumps, roadblocks, failures… but through it all, I persevered. I chose to honor resilience as my super-power because I was so driven and determined to bring my dreams to life. I knew that I was here for a bigger purpose and that all of my experiences (the good, the bad, the ugly) were given to me for a reason… to equip me with the tools that I needed to do the work that I do today. It’s my passion that drives me forward.
