Meet Roxi Satni

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxi Satni.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Roxi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story about the tattoo begins in Mexico City, 2008. I was still studying my university career when I had the curiosity, more than becoming a tattoo artist, to know if I could do it and what would be the feeling of drawing, injecting ink permanently in the human body.

The moment a little light caught on me, I decided to get what I needed to learn and the basic tools. So first I had to look for a person to help me to contact someone who could sell me the equipment that was required.

One of my best friends, took me with a guy who knew another man who made machines, he sold me my tools and my first liner machine. It had an ace of spades figure and what I liked the most is that I was left-handed, so I could use it better with the hand I draw.

So the same man who sold me the machine introduced me to a tattoo artist and I began my apprenticeship with him.

I had already tattooed some people but my brother was the one who gave me a bit of his skin for the first time to have the opportunity to experiment, I was a little nervous but about being my brother, gave me confidence and freedom.
I spent about two and a half years going to a county two hours away from where I lived.

Then it was time to follow my path, I kept tattooing family, friends, and new people. After some years I came to Los Angeles and my path continues and begins again. *Always learning*.

The patience, perseverance and trust have helped me to have people feeling attracted to my work.

The constant thought of doing my vocation and my life mission with love and honesty keeps me visualizing and manifesting growth.

Likewise, the inspiration I find in details is projected and as a result, comes the joy of making people satisfied when they go with my energy walking their blood

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Actually during this path, since the beginning, doors were opening for me and in this is how my present is being built. One big important thing is my family support.

Sometimes of course there are situations that make everything not so easy, but along the way and experiences, you learn and undo small problems or if it sounds better, finding solutions. If you give water to the plant, the plant gives you fruit.

To some extent, I think that nothing is an obstacle more than myself.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well, I do tattoos, but it is more than this, to me is really important the process and the time dedicated to each person who I’m going to draw for ever. All the process, since I read a text message or email, determinate the rest of the experience. Then I also try to empathize with the people and understand them .

I specialize in whatever they want (as long as I am able to do it ) with my “touch” and my own essence. I really like to do black ink tattoos but I am also a color lover, so I really enjoy both. I like to do texture and dots, but simple lines and solid inks as well, so I am a combination because to me, all together brings balance.

I really enjoy doing mermaids and sirens but I love flowers, animals, creatures, lines and dots patterns and mesoamerican ancient art what represents my culture.

Something that makes me very proud about to share my work is that it can cause an impact or make the eyes ¨shake¨

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I really don’t believe in the luck I preffer to believe in the attraction, the natural intuition, the real wishes and visualization, one part is something that lives within myself and within all of us, the other part is not in my hands it is just what I think the live is moving for under my own choices. But I feel fortunate and grateful with everything that life takes away from me and with all that life gives me.
