Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosi Norton.
Rosi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in Seattle with a heavy background in fine-art training, so as a kid I always thought I’d pursue studio art. I had a studio on Capitol Hill and would spend almost all my time painting and doing creative research. When I got to college, I put art on hold and became really interested in e-Commerce and how brands used it to take off in a short period of time. The process of combining technology and design was a new challenge and pushed me to tap into creative channels I’d never tried before.
Right after graduation, I jumped into the industry as a product manager for two years. I built a strong network in LA & NY and decided to create my own company, Rosi.Studio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think whenever you take a path that’s unconventional there are challenges that come with it. For me, the process of leaving a structured position and trusting myself to build something from scratch was the most difficult (and rewarding) part of the process.
Whenever things get difficult, I think back to why I chose this path: being a part of the class of female entrepreneurs that disrupt the status quo.
Please tell us about Rosi.Studio.
I started Rosi.Studio with the intention of creating a modern solution for web design and technology.
The idea came after realizing a gap exists in the rising e-commerce space. With so many established and emerging brands building their e-comm platforms, demand for custom digital builds has risen. They either turn to traditional agencies that come with a huge price tag and rigid structures, or try to build their own website with a template builder like Squarespace or Wix, but soon realize that those options are virtually impossible to customize and scale.
I wanted to craft a new option in the industry that gives brands high-level digital services at a more reasonable price point. I found the best way to do so is the collective model; Rosi.Studio empowers our team of international creatives and provides top-tier services without the hidden fees that come with the traditional agencies.
Whether it’s launching a new website or marketing initiative, my team & I get a lot of joy from fueling other people’s ambitions.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’m not sure if I would change anything. I believe that mistakes are valuable — sometimes you learn more from them than you do from your successes.
