Meet Emma Rose of Rosehall in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Rose.

Emma, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Los Angeles I, Emma Rose was inspired by the diverse culture and colorful city. I saw people from around the world coming together to follow their artistic dreams and create together. Expanding on that lifestyle, Global citizenship is the concept of supporting our fellows around the world and trying to achieve understanding and unity.

With a passion for global citizenship and helping people express themselves, I created my clothing line, Rosehall. We aim to bring you vibrant wearable art with global inspiration to portray whatever your mood may be.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In this city of dreams I’ve heard the saying “follow your dreams” my whole life, to the point the words became totally empty to me. I was like, ‘Yea obviously if you can do something you like while making money that’s ideal but we all do what we can’. And the concept of “following my dreams” almost became burdensome after 20 years growing up in Hollywood.

Then when I stopped looking at it like, ‘How can I make money in a way that I’m kind of interested in’, and just looked at exactly what I wanted to do and DID THAT, this momentum just naturally built. I had people out of no where wanting to support me, my creations seemed to breed happiness in those around me, and I felt more energetic. It just naturally flowed, one thing into the next; from legally registering my business, producing the clothes, doing photoshoots, etc. Even though I knew NOTHING about most of these things they seemed to take less work than any job I had done before.

I finally understood why people say “follow your dreams”.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a colorful, unisex, high end streetwear brand born and made here in Los Angeles to support local creators.

I felt there was a gap in the marketing for clothing brands with an expressly positive and conscious message. So inspired by creators like Vivienne Westwood I thought why not merge 2 of the things I love most; fashion and goodwill.

We focus on positivity, innovation and enhancing the mood and style of the wearer. Now sold exclusively online at rosehallclothing.com, we are excited to begin partnering with stores here in Los Angeles as well.

What were you like growing up?
I was a pretty quiet kid, most thought I was extremely shy and conservative. When in reality I just didn’t find a lot to relate to around me so kept to myself. As I got a little older I started to immerse in different artistic communities and was in awe that there were others like me, and like I strived to be.

A turning point for me was at age 13 I started dance training at the famous Millennium Dance Complex. That was the first time I had been around that many artists, many of whom had a similar style to me. Got to admit I shed a few tears because I felt understood by that community, it was great.

Then I continued to connect with other creators and explore different arts; although fashion was always my favorite, hands down. I always day dreamt in terms of fashion.

The idea of turning humans into art pieces, the way a painter does so to a canvas fascinated me. Although I never realized that I could really do it, myself, here and now. I always thought starting your own business, especially fashion line was a HUGE deal that took tons of money and time. Nope, it’s been so much fun. I can’t urge you to live out your passions enough, I’ve very much enjoyed it and look forward to growing more.
