Meet Rosa Covarrubias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosa Covarrubias.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
It all started with me being a high school student in a photography elective class where I couldn’t afford much but a basic digital camera. I went into the class just thinking I would be completing assignments just to get my grade, but it wasn’t until I actually started taking pictures that I realized that this was something that I really enjoyed doing. As my passion grew bigger for the art, I decided that this can possibly be a job for me. I got a job and saved all my money and with that, I bought myself my first DSLR camera. Luckily, I had family and friends that would let me practice photographing them. It eventually started to go from family and friends to people I had never met but were contacting me through Instagram and Facebook. I’d say that social media was what helped the most to grow my photography business. Also, my family and friends’ support helped me believe in myself and push me to building my business. I don’t think I would be where I am now with my photography business if it weren’t for all of their support. There is a saying that says, if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life and I am blessed to be able to say I am in love with photography and living that saying.

Please tell us about your art.
With my photography, I am able to create memories and capture those special moments for couples who are madly in love, families who just welcomed a beautiful baby, teens and adults showing their excitement for their educational accomplishments, and families just wanting to capture their love for one another. This is why I think photography is so important. It is the one time we are able to capture a special occasion and freeze time for them in a photograph. My inspiration comes from each individual that I meet. Everyone is so unique and different in so many ways and that is the beauty of life. I hope people can see the love, passion, and joy through my work.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
DO NOT compare yourself with any other artist! Everyone is unique, meaning your vision should too! It took me a long time to get that because I never thought I was good enough since there are so many great photographers in the community, but truth is, everyone has different styles and that is what makes photography so great.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can see my work through Instagram or Facebook as well as my website. They can show their love and support by following me on any social media network or simply just appreciating and possibly sharing love for photography.
