Meet Ron Lodevico of Illery in Long beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Lodevico.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
A sneakerhead and artist at heart, I was always into collecting sneakers. While working at the Boys And Girls clubs I use to throw sneaker shows called Sole Assassins on the side. They always said in order to make the most impact on the youth, teach them something you love. I would customize sneakers for people, it got really busy so what better way to kill two birds with one stone then to teach kids how to customize their sneakers while I worked on my orders. One thing I use to tell the kids was “you can be anything you want if you put your mind to it.” Then one day one of the teens asked me, “is this what you wanted to be, is this what you put your mind to?”. It wasn’t, I wanted to build my own sneaker shop, where I can turn my passion for all things sneakers, into my everyday job. Now I can say with full confidence to anybody, “you can be anything you want if you put your mind to it”. Our shop offers high-end, authentic, hard to find kicks, curated by myself. We were the first shop ever to offer both consignment and restoration/customization services.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Any business is gonna have its ups and downs. Especially in the beginning. I feel that struggle is true testament of hard work, dedication and faith. With that trifecta, it’s success every time.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Illery – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
What sets us apart is the restoration/custom services. Right now, the Southern California market is being saturated with sneaker consignment shops. Our shop has that added bonus of quality customs/restorations services at a brick and mortar.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
No big changes right now, maybe a facelift for the shop.
