Today we’d like to introduce you to Rogelio Ramirez.
Rogelio is an artist and craftsman, started his company back in 2001 and quickly built his resume with many top tier designers. His eye for detail and his ability to create impeccable finishes is what keeps clients coming back. Over the years, Ramirez has grown his finish business to include amazing carpentry, metalwork and upholstery.
Recently bringing on designer, Lindsey Shaw, Omnia West is providing a few new services in addition to their custom manufacturing. They work with designers and showrooms to bring their own visions to life. Through design consultations, and development, they produce designer’s own lines and provide manufacturing for orders. Whether you want a signature piece or a line you can call your own, they can help you get there.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Custom furniture is always interesting and we are always getting specific requests. We love taking on the complex pieces that don’t have a direct design path. Adding fridge drawers, lighting, or designs that defy structural rules. That is the great thing about custom; It becomes all about problem solving. For example, a client in San Francisco wanted specific display cases to perfectly case their collections of short salt and pepper shakers and tall perfume bottles. We needed the design to work for the various dimensions while still aesthetically having a cohesive and contemporary design. Solving these unique designs is probably my favorite part of my job.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Omnia West – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We make custom and production furniture for interior designers and showrooms. We do everything from wood and metal to upholstery and electrical and everything in between. When designers are looking for the perfect piece there are sometimes holes in their search. Some clients want to take their vision to the next level by incorporating a unique material. We have made pieces with curved mirror, family heirloom fabric, and TV pop ups. Others have specific dimensional needs that they can’t find in store. One client, a basketball player in Florida, needed furniture to fit his large stature. Having our 5′ designer, Lindsey Shaw, sit in one of his oversized barstools was quite a sight.
Production furniture we make for showrooms are the bread and butter of our business. We work behind the scenes designing, developing, and producing items for showrooms across the US. Each piece we design is marketed as the showroom’s designs, and marketed through them. We don’t advertise these pieces, share the designs, or put our name on any of it. It’s like being a secret resource; which can be very difficult for our own marketing.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our designer, Lindsey Shaw, has a book full of unique designs. Some day we plan to launch an Omnia West line.
