Meet Rocco Guarino of RoccoMusic in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocco Guarino.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rocco. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in NY writing songs and producing music for my bands and my friends. I ended up in Florida (it’s okay, I survived), and in 2002 I packed all my stuff into a Saturn called Able Mabel and drove across the country in search of musical fame. Through a series of misadventures, I ended up at Scott Weiland’s (Stone Temple Pilots) studio in Burbank, CA. I started out as his personal assistant, then worked my way up to create short-form documentaries and direct a VH-1 top-10 music video for his subsequent band Velvet Revolver. I toured around the world with them for the life of the band (2002-2008), and then partnered with Scott to open his studio to the public, also serving as Chief Engineer.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The personal assistant job was tough for me because I’ve always needed a personal assistant of my own. Trying to keep someone’s life and career on track was exhausting, but rewarding. It was the best of times and the worst of times, depending on the day.

Please tell us about RoccoMusic.
I write songs for tv/movies, produce bands, and sometimes direct music videos. My main focus as a producer is working with bands to capture and enhance their sound. I try to stay transparent sonically and let the artist shine through. I do a lot of co-writing sessions with other songwriters and artists as well. Occasionally I’ll direct a music video for a song I’ve produced.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing with my dogs in our big back yard, swimming in our pool, teaching myself guitar and keys, and jamming with my first bands.
