Meet Robin Rae of Robinraebodywork in Westwood & Leimert Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Rae.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been a muscular therapist for 30 years! My how time flies. I started out as a photography student – living and breathing the arts and came to Los Angeles in the 80’s to continue as the wife of an up and coming director from Israel. Of course, things happened and I needed to help out and worked for a few years in various corporations, learning all about computers along the way. So happy I did! Once I achieved the office and a secretary at a prestigious insurance company I noticed employees coming by for me to do bodywork. Had learned the craft and was licensed in the bay area while attending school and didn’t realize that I really had the gift. A few jobs later, I was working for a Real Estate Development company, which I loved and was ready to learn to blueprint when I suddenly had a mental breakdown and couldn’t handle the stress anymore. I landed in Marina Del Rey Chiropractor to get some needed help and before I knew it I was given insurance patients to massage after my work day. One thing led to another and suddenly was saying goodbye to the world of 9 to 5 and hello to chiropractic offices, gyms, private homes and a five-year alliance with a wonderful Acupuncturist. I worked for many years at night in the homes of families, massaging couples, and their family members. I became an addition to many a family and group of friends, in the film business to a huge Iraqi/Iranian family, working away and learning my craft. I had the good fortune of crossing the paths of some heavyweights who taught me the art of “energy work” and continued with that until today where I employ a lot of techniques to release stress through the body using Qigong, visualization, hypnotherapy, and all the rest to arrive at my current state of a bonafide healer (type!). The path is long and wide. Meditation and Mental Health are my trademarks, along with physical therapy for injured areas, and everything in between! I have two locations to work from and now am ready for new clients to come to either location if they would like to relax, release, go deeper, learn anti-aging, and just be in good hands of a muscular therapist.

Has it been a smooth road?
The challenges of staying in the field of muscular therapy included decades of hiring physical therapists to learn how to keep my strength. Wasn’t easy, but now, years later, am still in the game!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Robinraebodywork – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am most proud of being compassionate to help as many people as I can and certainly did. Probably have given thousands of massages over the last 30 years.

Because of that, I am completely comfortable and confident to help the newest person on the table. Have to be a quick study to get into their body, mind, soul, to help them. It’s such a fast pace world. When someone new comes to me I need to be happy, healthy, holy to assist them for that hour, that day, that part of their life. Timing is everything. Quieting the mind helps in order to help others.

Am gifted, I think, in all the elements that makes up a body worker. Hence, Robinraebodywork! I guess I fit the build. Some call me the Tiger Wood of massage! There are many who do a great job at this craft. I fell into it and accepted the gifts that it brings.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Los Angeles is my home for the last 30 years. Wouldn’t live any other place. It is filled with interesting and evolving people, and have found love, and lasting friendships here and only here!!

Least is that everyone is tired of the traffic. Must do something about that! And to visit someone have to plan the trip. Once the Crenshaw line is finished in Leimert Park, where I now live since 2013, there is no excuse to not jump on the metro and show up all across town for a visit, restaurant, show, or the beach.
