Meet Nick Muñoz, Anthony Rosales, Nico Valencia & Max Morse of Rend in Westchester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Muñoz, Anthony Rosales, Nico Valencia and Max Morse.

Nick, Anthony, Nico and Max, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Rend was the brainchild of Anthony and Nick. Ever since we were kids, we knew this is something we wanted to do [start a band]. Ever since then we were laying out a blueprint for what we have today! We attended a high school where we didn’t really know anybody who could help us materialize our vision but as soon as we decided this was for real, we moved schools in search of some bandmates. At our new school is where we found Nico and Max. From then on we worked hard with the help of our friends and family to put out our first two singles and a music video, all within the first year of being ‘Rend’. We’re still working incredibly hard to get ourselves heard all over SoCal. We’re very meticulous with everything we do… follow the blueprint, follow your heart.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a fun and thrilling road but certainly not smooth. From the beginning it was difficult to even find bandmates who we’d even feel comfortable with. One major struggle was finding a studio we could afford on our budget and it delayed our release schedule by a whole lot. But we bounced back and just finished recording our first EP! As independent musicians, there’s always a struggle because we don’t always have the same tools as other big name bands in the scene but we always find a way to make it work!

Please tell us about Rend.
We think that our energy is far different than any other band in the scene today. We say that because we really do believe it. It’s all about freedom when you’re in a creative bubble. We wear wireless inputs and jumpsuits so that we can be as free as possible when we perform, this gives us room to breathe, move and interact with each other and our audience. This kind of stage presence brings our performances to a new level.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The biggest thank you goes out to all our loyal fans! Everything we do is for them and we put out as much as we can on stage and there’s not one time where we don’t get it back. Without the support, we have who knows where we’d be but we would definitely not be in our current trajectory!
