Meet Renay Compere of Barreworks Studio in Brentwood and Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renay Compere.

Renay Compere is a long time fitness enthusiast who has tried every workout in LA over the past 20 years. She took her first barre class after the birth of her last child and became hooked after watching her body transform.

After teaching yoga and barre classes for years, she designed BARREWORKS – Not Your Ordinary Barre Studio. The studio offers barre, HIIT and cardio so you can truly have everything you need in one studio. With her 5 years of experience owning and operating two successful Pop Physique Barre studios, she understands the need to offer her clients something more.

To her, true strength is not solely exterior, it is a journey of body, mind and spirit. As a mother of FOUR BOYS, (yes, you read that right) she understands that a workout is more than simply a way to tone and get fit. It’s about taking time for yourself so that you may be the best you possible in every area of your life. It’s about balance. It’s about giving to yourself so that you may give yourself to others.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning a business has its ups and downs for sure. There is always something to do and rarely enough time to do it. When I first started I did everything from scrubbing the toilets to creating marketing material to working behind the desk every single day. I remember being so happy when I could afford to hire a cleaning crew! My kids helped a lot. They came to the studios with me and did everything they could to make my work life easier. It truly was and is a family business.

Letting go and giving up worrying about the outcome has helped me not only in business but life in general. As long as I am happy and healthy and making others happy and healthy I feel successful. Doing my best doesn’t mean I need to be the best.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We know Barre sculpts, lifts and lengthens. It’s pretty freaking amazing. Seriously. It also teaches you a mind body connection that will make you focus on nothing else but yourself during class. This mind body connection will stay with you throughout your day and will carry over into other aspects of your life.

We also know it does all of this…..

BAD ASS Ballerina Posture.
SERIOUS Mind-Body connection.
FLEXIBILITY you NEVER had in high school.
SHAPES your booty (think Baby Got Back).

So we offer you fitness that you need…

And, it will be something you CRAVE. DESIRE. LOVE.

We are crazy excited to bring you all the best in barre and so much more with the opening of BARREWORKS STUDIO in Brentwood and Santa Monica. Collaborating with our amazing staff of professional dancers and fitness experts, we have developed classes that will make your workouts fun but more importantly, so efficient you will see results almost immediately. BARREWORKS will most definitely change the way you look at barre classes and all they do for your body.

Incorporating the Lotte Burke method along with elements of Pilates and power yoga moves, our classes are perfect for those brand new to barre and those who are hardcore barre enthusiasts. We modify each part of the class so that every client, no matter their level, will be challenged and experience a full body workout. Using props like sliders, bands and balls along with light weights, classes will work with muscle confusion so that your mind is engaged and your body is changing, faster!

In addition to our signature BARRE SCULPT classes, we’re positive you’ll love a little CARDIO SCULPT and BARRE HIIT as well.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in the Midwest and loved being outside. I was a tomboy and was always trying to prove to the neighborhood boys I was as tough and strong as they were. I loved performing and was in a ballet company until the age of 14. We performed 6-8 shows per year. My love of the beach during family summer vacations proved to me early on that I would live on a coast when I grew up. At about 15 I had decided California was where I would be. 3 years later I moved to the Bay Area and a year later down to LA.

Renay Compere is the kindest, most compassionate and most driven person that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. It is hard to find the entire package- especially in a business owner. Her end goal is not about the money, but about changing lives and helping as many people as she can. I have seen her go out of her way on multiple occasions- going above and beyond teaching her classes, maintaining relationships on a first name basis with clients, providing so many employment opportunities to instructors and making sure they have the best training possible, and even being supportive of outside studios allowing them to borrow her fitness equipment at times. Renay is such a charming and professional individual and she runs her Brentwood and Santa Monica studios with such grace. She has years of experience and knowledge behind her and you can feel 100% safe and confident trusting your body with her and her studio. Choose to invest in yourself. Choose to invest in Barreworks. It’s a decision that you and your body will thank you for. I will never go to another barre studio again. Here’s to Renay Compere: the queen of the barre community and the most amazing business owner I have ever known.
