Meet Ray Carr of Spirit Snowflake in Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Carr.

Ray, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a city kid born and raised in the Bronx. I grew up seeing art, living art and breathing it. Everything around me has always felt like a breath of new life. There were always colors swaying with the fast-moving lights, it became one collaboration with me and the universe. A lot of who I am today, I found pieces of me along the way. I had a crayola bedroom, curtains, the bed set and even the bunk bed frame all had different colors for each bar. Color. Its been an anchor for me, from childhood to present day.

Not growing up in a spiritually lead environment gave me an opportunity to seek something I haven’t seen before. The more books and learning experiences I encountered, I found myself connecting and bridging all I have learned, seen or read.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at alllll, but smooth roads are boring and you’re more likely to fall asleep.

Some of the struggles? So many to choose from ….. I have gone through just about it all but I also grew and learned from all my shortcomings and unwanted situations.

As a kid, I use to fight a lot, physically. I had gone through addiction and had gotten myself in more trouble than the average 12/13 years old. I felt like I had nothing to lose so I got lost in my darkness early. Money was always something my family stressed about so I started working around 14. Had left my family’s house around 17 a little after I had gotten expelled from school and went out into the world to figure out how it was for myself. I became homeless and found my self back in addiction … everything I do is to heal that person.

Spirit Snowflake – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Spirit Snowflake is like a dream I didn’t know I could have. It’s funny because I remember the feeling of coming up with the name and then later on, seeing it define itself.

The word spirit has the same definition as the word inspire: “Inspirare – to breathe in.

Snowflakes are defined by how different they each are, how they’re all so intricate and beautiful in their own way.

Thats what I see and I would love for everyone to see the view. Every person is so different and unique. It’s almost too beautiful to grasp. I try to reflect how great you as an individual are.

I make crystal pieces called “Orgonite (it’s just like how crystal healing works but exponentially stronger). I make them with every person I could possibly imagine in mind, giving all the art a new feel, look and personality.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is helping others succeed. Being your best self and failing, trying again… no matter who is around, until you get it right. It’s hard to specify exactly what the ideal outcomes will be, I only know what I know and there is a lot more to know than that… but I’m currently setting my next step of success to be opening my store/lounge. I would like to give the space to feel energy and be your inner child. A place where you can heal without trying.

Lowkey want to be one of the best jewelers of our time ….lol… that’s a different day.
