Meet Rappa from Watts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rappa.

Rappa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for music began around the time I turned 5. My daddy who is no longer here with us bought me a speaker with a cordless mic and keyboard for my kindergarten graduation. Ever since then I’ve been into music. I learned how to use Fl Studio in 08 and still use it till this day on my Razer laptop. Really if it wasn’t for music Ill be dead or in jail.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It wasn’t always nice growing up, I became apart of the streets losing my father not having a father figure I didn’t have nobody to guide me. I started not making the right choices which eventually led to me being incarcerated multiple times. I’ve been stabbed in my face, shot at the same time and other occasions. Not having nowhere to sleep at because I didn’t want nobody knowing I didn’t have nowhere to sleep. Having a son really changed me especially when he looks just like me. He’s really been through the mud with me so he can have whatever he wants when the bag comes in.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a music producer known as “Rappa” some people get my name confused with my social media which is “itsrappa”. I’ve worked with alot of artist major and local. I have two projects that I released so far “Street Related” with my boy Panda Badazz. Also “03 Rappa” with 03 Greedo. My streams are higher than most artist that actually rap on their songs. I mostly like working with local artist who are serious about their craft and help get their sound right. I have two songs that I produced made it to radio “Never Bend” by 03 Greedo which is still his #1 solo song and “Bag Chaser” by Ash Bash Tha Rapper which is her first song to be on Shady45.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m working on 13 projects for 2020 possibly 18 with different artist and including my very own project. Im starting my own production company where I’m going to be signing producers and also starting my own publishing and distribution company. My goal is to be able to give back to the community of Watts and start after school programs that will keep kids off the streets and help them explore their inner talents for a better future.
