Meet Raneq Barber of MILLENNIHOUSE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raneq Barber.

Hi Raneq, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. As a young child, I was fascinated with getting a job. I bypassed the typical lemonade stand and went straight to door to door sales. I’d handmake jewelry and walk around my neighborhood selling them. Looking back, it was pretty hilarious – seeing a five year old with computer-printed business cards and yarn bracelets.

Growing up, I was always a writer. It was a skill I knew I had, and I didn’t really need to try to develop. I spent most of my teen years writing melodramatic poetry – some of which was published. As an adult, I transitioned to writing articles, contributing to publications like Elite Daily. At 25, I was diagnosed with a progressive eye disease. Working in the traditional office space became increasingly difficult. At that point, I knew that my entrepreneurial spirit had to come to fruition. So, I launched an e-commerce skincare line. Although I knew a lot about skincare – I knew nothing about marketing or sales. My e-commerce journey forced me to learn about marketing and sales, which led me to copywriting. I was able to combine my love of writing with business and I haven’t looked back since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
They say nothing good comes easy. That’s definitely been my experience. As any entrepreneur knows – first, you struggle to hone your skills. Then you’re challenged with finding clients to pay you for those skills. After you finally feel like you’re on the right path, something always happens to throw you off or make you feel like a fraud. Imposter syndrome is real. You’ve gotta learn to make friends with your demons – they’re not going anywhere.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MILLENNIHOUSE?
I’m the owner of MILLENNIHOUSE, a boutique copywriting studio. We help millennial brands increase sales and generate more leads with conversion copy. Our process is deeply rooted in research. We know that customers buy when they connect to a brand. Connection can only occur if you understand your buyer. We spend the time to delve into the consumer’s mind and write as if we’re inside their head.

What’s next?
In the immediate future – I’m excited to work with more brands that want to speak to their customers and less about themselves. We’re also in the process of developing digital products to help entrepreneurs write their copy. Every business should have professional quality copy – even if they don’t have the budget to hire a professional. Long-term – I’m excited to find a way to educate all businesses on how to craft compelling stories that sell.
