Meet Ramsha Ali of Kamal Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramsha Ali.

Ramsha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was little, I knew I wanted to inherit my parents’ work ethic. I still remember watching my parents succeed in the business world and in the fashion world. I knew early on that I wanted to follow in their footsteps towards success.

I moved to Los Angele seven years ago to study Fashion Design at FIDM. While pursuing my degree, I worked for various brands including Rachel Zoe, StyleLease, and Kamal Beverly Hills. I had valuable opportunities to learn about the ins and outs of the LA fashion world. Right after I graduated with my Fashion Design degree, I decided to continue my education with a degree in Business Management. I started working full time at Kamal Beverly Hills as I worked towards my bachelor’s in Business Management.

I now have an ideal job at Kamal Beverly Hills that allows me to intertwine both fashion and business on a daily basis. As the right-hand woman of the CEO and Founder, I handle many responsibilities including website updates, inventory, marketing, and social media. One of the most satisfying aspects of this job is seeing my creative vision come to life through social media marketing — and it doesn’t hurt that I also get to represent my Pakistani-American heritage and culture right at work.

Has it been a smooth road?
Most definitely not, which I’m thankful for. My journey wouldn’t have been half as fun if it had been a smooth road. I remember struggling as I changed positions at Kamal through promotions. One specific challenge was switching Kamal’s website to Shopify. I didn’t have a background in e-commerce or user experience, however, I took the initiative to teach myself about writing an SEO and designing user-friendly webpages. That truly has been one of the hardest yet most rewarding experiences of my career so far.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kamal Beverly Hills story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m the Operations Manager at Kamal Beverly Hills, a globally-inspired boutique hand-curated by Sabaa Kamal. Our merchandise is produced by established and emerging designers and artisans around the world. We showcase one of a kind pieces from clothing, jewelry and accessories. At the moment, we have pieces from Pakistan, India, Turkey, Dubai, Paris, Lebanon, Colombia, New York, Los Angeles, and more.

What sets us apart from other brands is that we’re an all-women based team catering to women across the globe.

We’re most proud of how we have inspired other women to appreciate our culture. We have worked so hard over the past years showcasing the best of the best to clients from all around the world, celebrities, international royalties, and socialites. I’ve personally had the pleasure to work with clients on events including The Golden Globes and the Ambani Wedding. We also do a lot of custom ensembles for clients’ weddings. The satisfaction of making someone feel confident with their purchases, all the while emerging them into globally inspired designs, is priceless.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Fashion as well as the fashion industry are always changing. I personally would love to see my culture be a bigger part of the mainstream fashion industry. I hope to see Pakistan Fashion Week and India Fashion Week become as established as New York and Paris Fashion Weeks.
