Meet Rajiv Khilnani of RajivKhilnaniArt in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rajiv Khilnani.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rajiv. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to LA in early 2016 to pursue an acting career. Before moving to LA, I had done numerous on-camera, mostly commercial and short film, gigs in the San Francisco area where I had been living since early 2000. While living in Nor Cal, I took numerous acting workshops. However, I started training for an acting career seriously in 2013 by studying at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, SF campus. I am considered a diversity actor which I believe is a good thing now a days.

Apart from acting, I am also an award winning Fine Artist who also dabbles in Digital Media Art works. Now a days I mostly paint contemporary abstract works. I have been painting and exhibiting for over 25 years and am focused on growing my art career in Los Angeles and beyond.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creative pursuits are not for the weak. The fact that I am trying to make a living out of art and acting has its own share of challenges. Uprooting my social circle, leaving a comfortable 9 to 5 job and moving to a new city to chase my dreams has been challenging and stressful at times, but I have the support of my family and friends for which I am very grateful. Plus, I have always been a very goal driven person and don’t give up easily.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about RajivKhilnaniArt – what should we know?
I am an actor and a painter. As an actor, I fall in what you call the “Character Actor” casting category: ready to play a doctor, professor, landlord, boss etc. on screen.

As far as Art is concerned, now a days I mostly paint abstract works. I have been told that my works are different from most others because I try to incorporate elements from the Eastern and the Western cultures into my paintings.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think that in order to succeed, you need to believe in yourself, be persistence and professional and not get discouraged by rejection.
