Meet Rafi Mizrahi of Mizrahi Diamonds

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafi Mizrahi.

Rafi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved to LA after completing my service in the Israeli Army. Since I was a kid I was always drawn to California and decided to try my luck in Los Angels but had no desire to become an actor or get involved in the Hollywood scene. I started developing my father’s diamond exporting business and slowly made my way in to jewelry designing

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had a lot of second thoughts about the move to California after losing a large amount of money in a bad transaction that almost put me out of business.

It’s never a smooth road I think challenges and struggles makes us stronger and more capable. I’m very curious and always ask successful people I meet about their journey and it’s never a smooth sail, it’s a lot of hard work a dedication

Mizrahi Diamonds – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We started as diamond importers and manufactures, we did a lot of “private label” designing for other jewelers but there was very small demand for our large fancy color diamonds from the jewelers we worked with. Fancy Yellow diamonds are very popular in Europe but jewelers in the US didn’t really know to work with that specific color of diamonds so we started our own line under the Mizrahi brand and the demand was overwhelming.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
In the Hollywood many times success is measured by the number of zeros in your bank account, I grew up in Tel Aviv, Israel where people are more down to earth and your family and friends play a big rule in your life so I think my measuring stick is a little different. I’m still single so having my own family and being surrounded by good friends that’s my ultimate success.
