Meet Rachael Sofia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Sofia.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rachael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started as an on-call model for places around my area looking for any kind of experience I could obtain. I then started gaining traction in 2018 after my first big role modeling for GAP Canada. After that, I went on to shoot my own short films, loving events like the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF). I have always been so interested in fashion, film and the arts so building my presence in that area was something I had always dreamed of.

Flash forward to 2020, I am way further than where I expected to be in the industry. As someone who started visioning this as a young kid, I had no idea it was actually possible to be so involved in a creative role as a model and working together with so many amazing talents, it’s truly amazing, whimsical. I love to create/be a part of content that makes people feel good, I love to support and inspire women all around the world.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I will definitely say the modeling world has its ups and downs. Not everyone will get to where they dream of being without effort. That being said, you have to be enthusiastic and in love with your vision. You have to hold it high above everything else. When I first started, I only had about 1000 Instagram followers and a couple of loyal followers who would support me when I would post something new. I love and value all of those people for supporting me before I had anything established because it was that support that gave me the willpower to keep taking it higher and to where I am today.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a 22 years old model with skills in making short films, make-up/hair, photography, and being behind the camera. I built all my content myself for the most part, with a few helping supports along the way. I do photo-shoots for scouting brands, promote company products that sponsor me, and try to inspire as many people as I can along the way.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I definitely would’ve told myself everything comes in time and you cannot rush anything. In the modeling industry, you have to be soo patient. Just because you aren’t what they’re looking for this time does not mean that you won’t succeed!
