Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannan Allen.
Shannan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story starts as far back as a kid and always being in awe of my mother and how she dressed. She was always so pretty and chic when it came to her style and all I wanted to do was emulate that. The funny thing about that is I went to catholic school growing up wearing only a uniform, so I lived for the weekends when I could dress in some real clothes.
My love for clothes and making women look good have always gone hand in hand which has lead me to being a personal stylist with my company The Closet Consultation. Clothes are such a huge part of what I do and it’s important that all my clients feel good about their style and how the clothes make them look and feel. Through conversations I would have with prospect clients the first thing they would say was they didn’t have a huge budget to spend on clothes and thought for this reason that they wouldn’t be able to find pieces that were well made without paying a lot of money for them. Because I knew I had a love for clothes and knew you didn’t have to spend a boatload of money to look good, the Pynk Mannequin was formed. I focus on quality giving women functional pieces that can be worn many different ways. I’m still growing but everyday the goal is still the same, making my customers feel good about what they purchase from me.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road wasn’t and still isn’t an easy one to say the least. Going into this I took courses and studied my craft from those that run a successful online boutique before I even launched my business. But I still struggled with aspects of my business such as figuring out who my customer was and what they like, learning the numbers game of inventory and what profits and losses I had to developing content for social media. It’s a lot to take in and overwhelming because this is new territory for me. But I’ve learned that I have to do what I can and take each day as it comes because there’s always going to be something that I don’t know and challenges that I will have to face, that’s just part of business.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pynk Mannequin – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Pynk Mannequin is an online women’s boutique that I pride myself in selling quality clothes without my customer having to break the bank to shop with me. My focus when it comes to the clothing is quality over quantity, I would rather have a few great pieces then a website full of clothes that no one loves. One of the most important things that I look for when making a decision on the items I select for my customers is giving them options that transcends into more than one look, basically they get a bang for their buck. Not just a one time item that they may or may not wear again. Versatility is key!
I’m most proud of the fact that I celebrated my one year anniversary this summer of being in business. That’s huge to me because I know so many businesses that don’t make it in the first year, so I don’t take that blessing for granted and thank God everyday.
I think what sets my business apart is that I’m big in customer service. Every customer is important regardless of how much money they spend with me and I want to always make sure they know how much I appreciate them. Once you purchase from me more than once I consider you family. There would be no Pynk Mannequin without my customers so they should always be made to feel good about what they purchase from me.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to growing Pynk Mannequin into a household name, we’re small now, but I’m confident over time that will change. The main objective is getting in front of our ideal customers more by attending more events and pop-ups and really making a name for myself when it comes to the boutique. I also plan on adding new items that I don’t sell right now to give our customers more options to choose for their shopping needs.
