Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer and Meredith.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We are BIG animal lovers to all kinds but our paths have always led us back to cats. There’s something so amazing about cats that constantly gets overlooked. There’s a common misconception about cats that they are independent and love isolation. However, that is in part, untrue. Cats love you, they just have a funny way of showing it. I mean, they test your patience in a silent manner and when they finally approach you, it is then that you know they’ve chosen to trust you. After years and years of rescuing cats and learning to speak their language, we hope to bridge communities and help guide people in understanding these subtle, yet remarkable creatures.
Together, over the years, we faced many challenges and hurdles with each one of our cats that we rescued. We took our trials and tribulations and turned them into a teachable lesson and now we want to help expand what we’ve learned and continue to learn about our fellow felines (how they work, act, speak, nutrition, health, etc.) and cause a ripple effect in the kitty community. Unfortunately, we have had an increase of stray and feral cats throughout the Los Angeles Region and quite frankly we need help in fixing this problem. All animals deserve love, shelter, food, and quality life. So, who are we and what are we about? We are animal lovers with a heavy emphasis on cats, helping them find their forever home and spreading knowledge and resources along the way to any and all cat families. Together we can be a voice for them and make a difference.
We’d just like to acknowledge Liz Hofer and Didi Anderson, these two ladies are a very special part of our team and we are very lucky to have their assistance!
Has it been a smooth road?
As much as we’d love to say it’s been a smooth road, it truly has not but that is why we do what we do. Its been really difficult to find homes for cats on a regular basis, just based on the stigma that surrounds them. Many people think that cats are mean, boring, bad luck, you can’t train them and the ever so famous, if you have cats – you are now a “crazy cat person”. Sadly, people also assume that these little creatures are better off left outside without the help from humans and often times just dump them out there.
But why do we do this? Well, looking back, it’s become societal standard to give cats a bad rep, fortunately at the same time, we’ve seen a growing number of people wanting and willing to change their mindset, which is awesome news! Just to help our readers understand cats a little more, here are some fun facts about them: They are actually natural anti-depressants. Sounds funny right? But it’s true, their purring is known to cure anxiety, stress and even severe depression. The Establishment once said, “Cats are the unsung heroes of mental health.”
Cats have a calming nature and energy about them and it spreads into their environment – doubt it? Well, adopt one, go on, give it a try, watch how both your lives magically change.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We’re just hoping to find forever homes for as many cats as we can and continue to educate others throughout the journey.
What sets us apart from others? Well, we are looking for more modern ways of getting the word out about adoptable cats. We are currently in the process of building out a brand new app for IOS/ Android users that tracks adoptable cats in the Los Angeles Area. In this, we also want to create an online community where people come and can ask questions as well as find helpful resources on particular topics about cats.
We are about to release a new Podcast series where we join with the local unsung heroes in our community – in hopes to bring awareness to a wide array of topics regarding the well-being of any and all animals.
We have other exciting things currently in development! We are about to launch The Purrrfect Bunch store where a large percentage of the proceeds will go back into the community to get cats the care they need – such as vaccines, spay/neutering as well as provide vet care to the animals we are adopting out.
Our E-Book is set to release alongside our store- to give a more in-depth look into what we’ve learned about the health, care and well being of our furry little friends. We hope you can grab a copy!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We feel like this is the perfect place for a company like ours to make waves – as we’ve mentioned previously, we have an alarming number of stray cats that need some extra love and attention. With the help from not only us but many other rescues that exist in the Los Angeles region, we can greatly reduce this problem.
