Meet Priti Jain of Priti Art and Design in Mission Viejo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priti Jain.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Priti. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My main profession is graphic designing/visualizer. As a kid, my passion was to draw on any surface using any medium. My most favorite is henna art. I loved doing henna art on everyone, keep practicing on paper or any surface. My mom is my inspiration, she always wanted the body art to be done on her no matter how bad I was during those days as a 10 year old kid. But I never gave up. I kept practicing as a hobby while I was growing up.

I have a Master’s Degree in Graphic Designing from Auckland University of Technology (New-Zealand). I worked in corporate industry for many years. I have an eye for details and aesthetic sense for design and this is what I incorporate in my henna designs. Working professionally has helped me a lot and serving my clients better.

When I moved here in USA back in 2009, I did not had a work permit and I picked my hobby again, practicing on my families and friends. Everyone told me I am really good at this and I should do this on everyone and spread the art. And here I am, as a registered artist, freelance graphic designer and full time henna artist. It’s so fantastic to connect to people from different culture and nowadays, everyone knows what is henna and where it comes from and how it’s made. It’s all 100% natural, safe to use on anyone with no side effects.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
So initially, when I started this art outside India, in countries like New Zealand and Australia, people would ask me is that a marker pen or chocolate or poop. (LOL!)

I would explain to them what is this and henna is actually a plant, which grown in very hot and humid weather, countries like South Asia and Middle East. And then they would search on Google (thanks to Google).

Which many people did not know about this here in America also. So to create awareness, I did presentation in universities, social media, booths, festival and so on. Their are many other artist who did the same.

Now, many of them know what henna is and I have done it to so many Indian brides, non-Indians, Americans and many other people from different cultures celebrating their special occasions.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Priti Art and Design – what should we know?
The very proud moment for me is people always give me 5 star review for my work, attitude and confidence.
They trust me with my work, clean designs and my price is very reasonable. I connect very well with them. Many of my clients always come back to me because of my work and attitude.

As a registered artist, I travel a lot within California, sometime cross country and to Mexico for destination weddings as a henna artist.

I have done celebrities like, Natasha Bedingfield, Tony Gonzalez and more. Which I had never imagined that henna art would take me places.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Obviously, family plays the biggest part, my supporting husband because when I am out for gigs he takes care of my little ones who are 7 year old boy and a 5 year old girl.
