Today we’d like to introduce you to Prime Hendrix.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started around 2005 where I worked at Levi’s. I remember being so persistent in getting hired there as a sales associate. While working there part-time and being a full-time student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising is where I began to notice my strengths and abilities.
After finishing school and juggling several different retail jobs, I launched my own clothing boutique Called P.O.E Place On Edge. An independent shopping experience that highlighted up & coming brands. And that was where things got interesting. It was not easy by all means, but it definitely sparked a different type of interest. For financial reasons in 2013, I began working in retail again, this time working part-time for an independent custom hat company. Out of nowhere an idea popped in my head like, it’ll be dope to customize The Marathon Clothing’s “CRENSHAW” snapback. So, I reached out to Anthony; also know as DJ V.I.P. (Nipsey Hussle’s Tour DJ) via twitter. We set a time and date and we got it done. Anthony an I hit it off instantly. Short time after we expressed our interest in working together. In 2014 I became his brand/community manager, I curated social media accounts, produced events, and merchandise. As a team we tackled brand awareness and influence of his mantra #teamVIP meaning ” Dream, Believe, and Achieve.” Believe it or not, this was my first time ever doing anything on this level. It was truly great to witness how the message was able to affect many in a positive and motivating way. And it was evident by seeing the hashtag being used in posts and profile bios. I would say having that opportunity opened new doors. My peers, artist, entrepreneurs etc. started to take notice.
Since has guided me into different ventures and being involved in special projects where I was wanted. After I noticed more leads coming my way, I began to understand my true value and figuring out ways to help and provide services to others who are up and coming and/or doing it the independent way. I’ve always been a very good connector and provided great creative input, that usually gained profit for those I assisted. So, I came up with a plan.. this may sound crazy, but I did about five years of free consultations/work before actually launching my own consultancy. I will not go into detail, but I wanted to learn, experience, and build my portfolio more before I fully committed to eighty6 LA. It’s a Marathon, not a race. So, in late December 2018, on my Mother three year anniversary of her passing I launched Eighty6 LA brand and marketing Consultancy.
Eighty6 LA – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We’re a collective of enthusiastic and gifted individuals from and around the Los Angeles area. We consult start-ups, public figures, new and existing clients to find new opportunities for growth. We leverage our expertise and credible resources to enable us to connect the dots. Pairing the right expert with our client to solve current business challenges creatively, effectively, and strategically.
Me, I am the strategy director and overseer of client relations. It is also my job to make sure our clients have a full understanding of the steps taken for the best results. And for them to learn along the way. Myself, I specialize in brand management, direct sales ( 12 years of experience) and global networking. Many know me for different projects I’ve been involved in, but overall would be my ability to bridge the gap. Primetime, one of many nicknames given to me. Explains that little bit, I’ve had some clutch moments.
Proud of.. good question. I would say how authentic we are here at eighty6 LA. Each of us has similar stories of our hard times and how we fought through those tough times to live out our dream. Respect, We earned every bit of it. I believe every business is uniquely different. For me personally, its the genuine love for what we do here as a team, its not just a job. We encourage others to win by not having to be someone they’re not, by doing it their way and not having to follow the crowd. Also, we offer full service design and brand development. Specializing in DTG (direct to garment) printing at our brand production HQ located in Orange County. We are not your average consultancy.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Being successful in my opinion is happiness. Identifying who you truly are. When doors get shut on you, but you keep goin — keeping the dream alive by finding ways to make it work. It is at that very moment when your passion finds its purpose. And people witness the victory. The Marathon Continues
