Meet Phil Muze of MuzeMultimedia in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phil Muze.

Phil, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I enjoy the freedom of controlling my schedule, when to work, sleep, travel or take a vacation. The closest person to me who had such freedom was my uncle and he lived abroad as an entrepreneur. I wanted to do the same. I left my home country (Tanzania) for Russia to study Information Systems and Technologies. I landed in the US for the first time in 2009, soon after graduating from University.

A month after arriving in the US, I got a job with Worldhealer Organization, great organization with lots of brilliant thinkers and achievers, I worked directly with the founder and I learned a lot about organizational structure, brain-storming and planning. I enjoyed working with them.

I have a passion for technology, building websites, and internet marketing. My plan was to start a website design company but before doing that I knew that I had to become an apprentice and find great mentors to learn from. I was fortunate to work for great companies, I learned not only the skills to build websites but also to run a company.

I worked for few companies and when I felt that I was ready, I started my company MuzeMultimeda back in 2012 and our revenue has been growing each year. Most web design companies offer small business owners traditional website services, I offer more than just a website, I build lead generation marketing machines that help our clients grow more revenue.

Has it been a smooth road?
In business, you always face challenges and I have made mistakes and learned from them. I am not afraid to ask for help and I am lucky to have great mentors who are quick to help me. In the past, help did not always come from members of the family or a friend, but also acquaintances from online forums and communities. If you are willing to put the work, you can learn anything, even with limited resources.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the MuzeMultimedia story. Tell us more about the business.
We build and maintain websites for small businesses. When the website is set up and running, you don’t need someone to keep working on it every day. We save small businesses large sums of money by having us as their “road-side assistance”. We only charge them for the work we do, no monthly billing or hidden fees.

We also offer SEO, PPC, and social media marketing. For most business owners, the goal of having a website is to generate leads. Having a great website is a great first step, the second step is to make sure people know about your website. There are a variety of different methods of marketing websites. Our job is to make sure we understand our customers business before coming up with a strategy as not all marketing methods apply to every situation.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The “Web design” industry is big but still growing. According to IBISWorld (a global business intelligence leader specializing in Industry Market Research and Procurement). The “web design” industry in the United States generated $21bn in revenue in 2015 and is expected to climb at an annual rate of around 4% between 2014 and 2019.
