Meet Paul Witt of Wittmore in Beverly Grove and Arts District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Witt.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My background in the fashion business started with Visual Direction and Merchandising at Retail with an Education in Graphic Design. I managed the Marketing / PR / Creative Services for a few Global Brands which gave me the perspective of International Regional Cities. Wittmore has always been a side retail passion of mine which came into development while consulting the past 8 years with brands. I thought there was a need to create an environment that felt more for adults which was curated from a design / quality of products in a global mindset. The key of Wittmore is that we edit the best of the best in the brands and objections we present to our clients. It is important for us to provide designer, where is made and product attributes to all the items we sell inside our Wittmore locations. In the past 3.5 years, we have evolved and will always support the independent makers and brands.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t think it has been a bumpy road. What I have learned if something isn’t working we need to move on quick and evolve. The times have changed since things move so fast now. Since we have been around now a few years I feel like we are in a good groove.

What I am most proud of is what we have accomplished and the team that surrounds us. We have been very lucky. Something we are known for is our stellar edited selection, customer service and laid back vibes. I think what sets us apart from others is our approachable point of view. What we are supposed to be providing is an inspiring retail environment. Many turn people off with the intimidation of elite behavior.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
What define success to me is when you make a client happy after they leave your store. They can purchase something or just get good advice from us on style or fit. On a merchandising / buying level many people come into the store who have never been and think it’s one collection. So, I am proud that it all blends together and you have dive in an explore what is on display. We encourage that.
