Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick O’Neill.
Patrick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started in the restaurant industry when I was 12 years old. My Godfather owned an Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills and let me work as a dishwasher. This is really when my passion for the restaurant industry and serving people began. Throughout my career, I have worked in all aspects of the business, including opening and managing my own restaurant along with many others, training our restauranteurs and working with others interested in opening a new restaurant.
Ten years ago, I started working for the Galardi Group, the parent company of Wienerschnitzel and fell in love with the company and brand. It was three years ago when I decided I wanted to invest in owning my own restaurants. It’s been exciting to be a part of this brand because we have such a unique concept. Wienerschnitzel feels more like a group of neighborhood restaurants than a large chain, and we’re the only brand to specialize in hot dogs. We are all one team and it definitely feels like a family.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are endless options to choose from, so staying on trend and being a competitive player in the restaurant industry is always a challenge we take seriously. Our guests have so many other dining choices in their neighborhoods, so we are always thankful they choose us.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Wienerschnitzel – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Hot dogs are a favorite in this country. Whether it’s Super Bowl Sunday or the Fourth of July, people associate hot dogs with special occasions and fun! We never forget that we are in the business of serving fun and we get the pleasure of doing just that.
Wienerschnitzel is known as the World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain and serves more than 120 million hot dogs annually. We were founded by John Galardi in 1961 with a single hot dog stand in Wilmington, Calif. and he really is one of the pioneers of the quick-service food industry. I get to be a part of our mission of Serving Food to Serve Others. There’s no prouder feeling.
The company currently has 333 Wienerschnitzel stores in 11 states. I am honored to bring Wienerschnitzel hot dogs, chili dogs, chili cheese fries, corn dogs, Tastee-Freez soft-serve desserts and other great-tasting food to customers in the San Fernando Valley and Ventura County, while also operating the Wiener Wagon, a full-service mobile restaurant.

What is your favorite memory from your childhood?
My favorite memory is eating hot dogs, of course!
