Meet Paris Sewell of Plant Based with Paris in Detroit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Sewell.

Paris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Shortly after my third child, I started experiencing various issues with my health which turned out to be a thyroid problem. I was so desperate to start feeling healthy and like myself again that when my aunt told me about a book called “Thyroid Healing” by Anthony Williams I ordered it pronto!

Once I began to implement all the knowledge from that book in my own diet, it wasn’t long before I had my entire household on a new regimen. The more I learned, the more information that seemed to almost fall into my lap.

We first gave up beef and pork and only ate chicken and fish twice a week. We gave up chicken due to finding a parasite in our chicken breast one evening. Fish followed shortly after doing some research on autism in relation to environmental effects. My son is autistic and the levels of mercury in fish were alarming so we opted to discontinue it in our diet. So, what’s left to eat?! Veggies, fruit, beans, legumes, and grains became our main diet and it was absolutely life changing!

My son began to speak more clearly and have less meltdowns, my daughter was able to focus more, and my husband’s daily headaches became non-existent. I personally experienced a dramatic decrease in the inflammation in my body and began to lose weight which has always been an issue for me since childhood. I was so happy and felt amazing. I just wanted to share and help other people and show them that eating plant-based can still be delicious.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Changing my diet was pretty smooth. Like I said before, I was desperate for change. Even getting my family of five on board wasn’t too bad. The business aspect has been both easy and hard. I’ve been very blessed with genuine loyal customers who I think of more as family. The amount of positive feedback and outpour of love has been phenomenal. Trying to learn a business that I’ve never done and balance family life has been challenging but I’m so passionate about helping people and have been blessed with many helping stones along the way. I’ll figure it out!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Plant Based with Paris – what should we know?
I’m known for my delicious and very well-seasoned plant-based vegan food! I take pride in changing the minds of many people who are shocked after trying my food and learning there’s no meat in it. We are a small home-based business that’s gaining clientele faster than I’d imagined. My goal is to build this into something I can pass on to my three kids. To not only set them up financially, but to teach them how to take charge of their health and help others do the same.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
To be my genuine self, work hard, and remain humble. God will take care of the rest.
