Meet Paige Foote of Yeah Girl! Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Foote.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My dream to become a dietitian began when I was a senior in high school, and I had the opportunity to tour a children’s hospital that I was fundraising for. As we walked through the campus, I remember thinking, “This is the exactly the kind of place I want to work for someday.”

I felt a communal passion for helping children and their families, and I knew this was a place of continuous improvement and learning. I left that hospital with the intention of returning to be on their staff someday. A few days later, I had a chance to meet with a dietitian who worked there. I was so excited to listen to her story.

I remember bringing a notepad and a pen, furiously scribbling down everything that came out of her mouth. This was amazing! I had never considered how important nutrition was for children with certain diseases, and for those who were recovering from injuries and illnesses. A whole new world opened up to me that day.

After our conversation, it didn’t take me long to decide that this was the career path I was meant to pursue. I loved science, I loved food, I loved the human body, I loved helping people, and I loved the fact that I could make a living by combining all of those factors into one job.

When college approached, and it came time for me to pick a major, “Dietetics” was an easy choice. The path to becoming an RD challenged me in ways I could have never imagined, but my dream to become an RD never faltered. This dream pushed me through my challenging coursework and a 1,200-hour unpaid internship.

Flash forward five years, I graduated summa cum laude, completed the internship, and passed the national exam to finally become a registered dietitian. The one thing that changed about my dream was what I wanted to do as a dietitian. During my internship, I realized that the clinical world of dietetics was not the right fit for me.

Instead, I was drawn more to counseling and the creative, entrepreneurial side (recipe development, social media, blogging, etc.). I also discovered that I was passionate about helping people with fitness, and became a certified personal trainer.

I now live out my dream by providing nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness coaching through my private practice, Yeah Girl! Nutrition, and my online monthly wellness membership, The Launchpad.

My career might look a little different than I imagined it would five years ago, but my overall goal remains the same: to use my knowledge in nutrition and health to help people. More specifically, to help people feel confident and positive about themselves and the food on their plate. #yeahgirl

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course not. Starting a business has so many uncertainties, and can be very intimidating. Every day I need to “put myself out there” and get out of my comfort zone.

I used to be terrified of what others would think of me and questioned everything I put out on the internet. But with each day that passes, I gain more courage and care less about opinions that don’t matter.

I know that I can’t please everyone and that the only opinions that do matter are the people I am truly helping.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Yeah Girl! Nutrition – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Yeah, Girl! Nutrition is my way of helping people feel like they are capable of anything.

Through my virtual private practice, I do so much more than simply teach clients how to fuel their bodies. I work alongside them to help them change the way they see food and create a personalized plan that works with their lifestyle.

After beginning with a comprehensive dietary and wellness analysis, I help them by:
-Developing a sustainable, individualized plan to reach their health goals
-Creating a meal pattern that fuels their day-to-day activities
-Exploring intuitive, guilt-free eating
-Providing solutions for food allergies/intolerances
-Separating nutrition fact from fiction
-Optimizing meal prep skills for maximum time & money savings + stress reduction

Through my online wellness membership called, “The Launchpad,” I help people “blast off” into a healthier version of themselves through educational videos, healthy recipes, workouts, downloadable resources, discounts on my favorite products, and so much more.

I created this membership to give people access to nutrition and personal training services at an affordable cost of only $5.99/month (that’s less than what you pay for a lunch out).

The best part about this service is that we have “an ever-expanding galaxy of resources,” meaning I’m always adding new content that will help people on their health and wellness journey. This is a mission team that I am proud to be a part of.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
What I love most about living in LA:
-Sunshine (I grew up in the rainy PNW and will NEVER take sunlight for granted!)
-Endless opportunities
-I’m surrounded by motivated and creative people.
-I can run along the beach (my favorite thing to do in my free time).
-So many cute dogs (I hope to get a furbaby of my own soon).

What I don’t love about living in LA:
-Being far away from my family.
I don’t feel the same sense of community I had while growing up in a small town. When I first moved here, I felt very isolated and lonely.

However, I think we’re responsible for creating our community, and this past year I took steps to connect more with people by volunteering for my church, joining a running club, and serving as a coach for Girls on the Run.

I now have a large network of people I can call my family.
