Meet Orchid Rodriguez of Orchid’s Floral Touch in Norwalk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Orchid Rodriguez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2000 I was planning my wedding on a tight budget and I needed flowers. I visited the Flower Market in Downtown L.A. and I came back home with just enough flowers to place them in a few vases. All my family and guest loved how I arranged the flowers and centerpieces. I received many compliments throughout the night. That’s when I decided to take some classes and get some experience. I asked local businesses in my area if they could help me promote my business by letting me sell in front of their establishments. Next thing you know we were selling flowers at gas station, restaurants and clubs. The best time was selling on Valentine’s Day, because flowers are in high demand and with my work and prices, I had a lot of satisfied customers. Soon we were selling on all holidays throughout Los Angeles. My family has always been supportive and willing to help me out in any way possible.

As time went by, I had more experience and we opened up a shop in the city of Paramount in 2002. We were doing very well for about 3 years and then the market crash. I was devastated and lost all hope to run my business. I continued to get calls from customers asking me to please help them with their floral designs for their upcoming wedding or special events. A few years later I continued to get calls from all my old clients. I had to tell myself, “If they are calling me, it’s because they love my work”. So, I decided to come back with no fears or regrets on turning back. This time I decided to work from home and I enjoy it. I loved working with all my clients and all their needs. If it’s a wedding, a special event, a hotel or even a funeral service, there is no job that is too big for me. As my slogan says “If you dream it, we can make it” and I stand by that.

Has it been a smooth road?
There had been several obstacles but we continue to move forward and learn from the mistakes and not to allow it to repeat itself.
