Today we’d like to introduce you to Oren Ovadia.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Oren. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
In 2011, I was working in the Entertainment Industry selling DVDs to stores like Movie Gallery, Tower Records, etc. As the DVD market slowed down, I knew I had to find a new profession, My wife and I had two girls and a 3rd Girl on the way at the time. I knew I wanted to use my marketing skills and sells experience, and real estate was the best profession to do that. I worked during the day and studied during the night. On April 13, 2011, my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and on the same day, I’ve received my real estate license.
I’ve made a deal with my wife, she gave me six Month to make it in real estate, or I had to find a steady paying job. I was Determined to succeed since failure was not an option for me. I’ve sold over 48 homes in my first year. I became number 1 in my office with the most transactions and most sales in dollar amount. Since then, I kept improving myself and making the switch to luxury home sales. Since 2011, I’ve sold over $250,000,000 in properties and over 150 homes in LA.
Becoming year after year top 1% listing agent in L.A county and top 3% real estate Agent in the USA. I’ve learned how to use social media with cutting edge tools to sell a home. I combine printed advertisement and social media to reach buyers and sellers across the state. I’m proud that I probably the only Realtor in Los Angeles that uses a Video Brochure to promote a luxury home. It’s a printed catalog which has a 5-inch LCD screen that also plays a video tour of the home.
The Academy Awards use the same marketing to send it to their community to promote a movie for consideration. I am lucky enough to work with many celebrities and also first time home buyers. I’m also very proud that Sellers that we’re trying to sell their homes for six months without any luck contact me and I’m able to sell their home within days for a higher price. I’ve earned a reputation in the past seven years of being a top negotiator and a professional and respected Realtor.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Was it a smooth road? Heck No! Being a successful Realtor has its perks, but also people don’t realize how much work it involves. I work seven days a week from 7 AM to until 2 AM, you always have to go to showings, listing appointments, inspections, non stop phone conversations, planning the next day, foreign buyers calling you at odds hours of the night.
Vacations are called ‘ working vacations ‘ since people always call you. Realtors are shrinks, marriage counselors, and negotiators. We deal with people’s emotions all the time. People think that as a Realtor, you show a house, you get paid. This is not true, you go through an escrow that anything you can imagine can go wrong. You can work for 60 days and not get paid since the buyer canceled.
When you start and go to a listing appointment Sellers like an experienced Realtors, but how do you compete with other experienced Realtors when you haven’t sold a home yet. It was a hard struggle to convince a Seller to hire you. You have to be OK with rejection and never take it personally. When I’ve started, I had to cold call and door knocking.
Homeowners will call you every name in the book, will scream at you, shot the door on your face, etc. You have to continue and not let it get to you. It was also tough to learn that you are not everyone’s cup of tea. Not everyone will like you, and not every seller is a match. Just because someone doesn’t like you, it doesn’t determine who you are. You have to maintain a high self-confidence to make it RealEstate.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Rodeo Realty Calabasas story. Tell us more about the business.
Being a Realtor in Rodeo Realty, which is the biggest Brokerage in Los Angeles individually owned by Syd Lebovitch. I am proud that I’ve achieved being a top ten Realtor year after year.
I’m a top 1% Listing Agent in LA county and top 3% in the USA. My marketing material both printed and on social media is set me apart from others. My video brochures, my catalogs, and ads are top notches.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I honestly don’t believe in good luck. I strongly believe in the harder I work, the luckier I get! I believe in treating people the way you like to be treated.
