Meet Onesa Anozie of His Balance in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Onesa Anozie.

Onesa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since I was young, I’ve always had a part of me that’s been very entrepreneurial. I used to set up a snack bar after church with snacks and drinks, created my own singing group with a friend, created an unofficial cookie company, and may other ventures. I’ve always desired to start my own business and be my own boss. In addition to that, I was raised to help those in need. My heart is to help people, which is why I pursued a master’s in social work. I desire to see people reach their full potential and reach their goals. In addition, to my passion to be an entrepreneur and help people, I’ve always been intrigued with the idea of holistic living. Living a life where we can thrive in our health, fitness and soul care. I’ve worked toward this way of living for the last ten years.

In the last two years, things began to click being a wife and mother. It became clear how to use my passions and gifts to empower people. Thus, His Balance was birthed a year ago. It was created to empower mothers through lifestyle coaching. I latched on to this idea at the beginning of 2019 and I couldn’t let it go. I am by no means a perfect mother and wife, but I know there are skill and tools I’ve picked up over the last ten years that can help mothers in one of the most exhausting and challenging seasons of their lives.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting to where I’m at now has been challenging. I work full-time outside the home. I’m a wife and have a toddler. Trying to start and run a business has been extremely challenging. Trying to find time and energy to do it all is a constant journey. Additionally, I’ve had to work through impostor syndrome! In many ways, I’ve been my biggest challenge doubting myself along the way. Last year, I really took the leap and finally stopped caring about what other people think and released the fear that was holding me back. Fear is definitely always there lurking around, I just don’t let it stop me anymore.

Please tell us about His Balance.
His Balance believes that as women, we can not do it all, but there are things we can do. There are things we love to do that we are not doing. There are gifts and talents that are not being used because we feel so overwhelmed being a mom that we’ve lost our passion and fire to do anything outside of being a mom. That can even include how we love and treat our spouse. His Balance says that God is the balance. We believe in what Jesus said, “seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added”. As women, if we first seek God and come into alignment with him everything else will begin to come to order. We first start with God who is our balance and stability. We don’t have to try to find balance. He will empower us to do all that’s needed and even find peace in the midst of our imperfection. His Balance wants to empower women to feel like themselves and live their best God-given life.

I offer one-on-one coaching to my mothers, but I also do speaking engagements, workshops, and panel discussions.

Areas I coach in:

Soul Care – We walk with you through an interactive journey within, to rediscover your walk with God and how He is speaking to you in your current season. We identify the roots of unhealthy behaviors and allow God to heal them, so you can walk in freedom and aligned with God’s calling and purpose.

Health and Fitness – We teach you not how to diet, but to have a lasting lifestyle change. We help you discover and create a health and fitness routine that works for your personal life and schedule.

Life – Organizing & Planning- We help you create systems to manage the details of daily life and the things that matter to your overall well-being.

Honestly, what sets us apart is that my coaching is tailored to the mother and their lifestyle. I’m not imposing an unrealistic plan on them. I think internally most of us know what we need to do to have the type of life we desire. I support these women in goals I’m sure they’ve already thought about and written down. They just haven’t been able to manifest that goal yet. They haven’t had the right support and accountability to achieve that goal. There can also be a gap in knowledge, things they’ve just never been educated in.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories was taking a family trip to a small beach town to celebrate Christmas. My parents loaded the car up with our gifts and luggage. Our hotel was right on a beach. We could hear and see the waves from the room. That Christmas, we opened our gifts, played board games and explored the small town. It was so much fun!
