Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Espinoza.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ever since I was a kid, I always loved video cameras. It was a sense of pride that I was able to control what someone would see once the video was presented. After the years, I would create short videos and not think much of it. In 2018, I had one audiobook credit left and I decided to get the book “Crushing It” by Gary Vaynerchuk. That book was the one that changed it all for me. I began thinking about starting my own business but was hesitant because I did not study Business in college. After seeing what other videographers were doing, I knew I could deliver an even better product at a better rate. Thus, Create 2 Inspire was born in December 2018.
Today, I am finishing up my second year as a business and have seen growth since I started. Pivoting from Event Videography to now Business Videography, I am enjoying more consistent work, especially during these times. I’ve worked with clients who seek to scale their business, and I bring in my expertise of social media to help them achieve those goals.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. When I started out, I was in the Honeymoon stage. I felt everything was just perfect until this stage was over. I thought charging far less than others would bring in more clients, but it didn’t. Also, the issues that come with technology slowed me down since I was learning a new editing program to meet the demands of high-quality videos.
I also went through personal things where I took a break from my business. Nonetheless, pivoting to Business Videography and charging a fair price has helped me regain momentum. I am more confident in not lower my fair price, which has also given me the self-esteem needed to decline clients who do not show a great working relationship.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Create 2 Inspire Film story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a Business Videographer. I create video content for small to medium-size businesses who want to scale. I use my creative thinking process to create unique videos that help build relationships and trust with their audiences. I reiterate that our videos are not meant to have a “call for sale” but rather information that will keep them top of mind. We plan through a process from Brand Identity to the Call for Action. It’s like working out, you don’t just do it a few times nor do you straight for the heavyweights.
What makes me proud as a company is my ability to listen and understand my clients and potential clients. I ask about what they need support in, but I also ask about their habits on posting on social media. It’s not just creating videos and collecting a payment, it’s really about developing strong habits so that they won’t need me down the road. That though is scary for some, but I always want to be known for developing business owners to take the reins of their video creating content. If they scale and don’t have time, I’m always a call away to support with the video creating.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is when opportunity meets preparation. I have learned this lesson very early when I applied to my dream college. I made sure all of my pre-requisite classes were taken care of early, and I was able to transfer mid-year. The same has gone for my business. I’ve prepared many contracts and proposals, as well as my highlight reels to present at a moment’s notice. This has helped me tremendously when a client has a small interest in what I can provide and being prepared not only makes our conversation longer, but it shows that I am prepared and that I will take that to my work with them.
