Today we’d like to introduce you to Nxichx.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a Hip-hop artist, singer songwriter and producer. I’d have to thank my sister for the Hiphop side of me. She used to toss me DJ Quick, ICE CUBE, Jay Z and Foxy Brown records. It wasn’t to much but I knew on Christmas I was getting something dope music-wise. So yeah these were the foundation of my inspiration in RAP music. My brothers would pull up on their dope Harley Davidsons and post up outside bumping oldie but goodies and that really opened my ear sonically.
Prior to that, the only source was Music Award shows and big rock performances like Red hot Chili peppers and just alternative rock in general.
One day my mom bought a guitar for me. and it really gave me the confidence I needed to pursue something so large, so young. I was eight years old when I told my mom I wanted to be a rockstar. Now I’ve been playing guitar for about 14 years (shoutout YouTube tutorials).
My latest EP “The Longest Winter: SZN 2” was really a growth year for me and I challenged myself to push boundaries and engineered/produced the whole project.
“The Longest Winter:SZN 2” was made in Echo Park/Chinatown, which is where I lived at the time. It was shitty living room that a coworker from Fashion Nova let me rent and work out of.
I then wrote a 72 page screenplay that compliments the mood of the EP in another visual aspect. Dropping this Christmas as a hard copy for the people that enjoy a decent fresh read.
I got here by simply loving what I love, creating product, film and music.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the most difficult challenges for me was overcoming a health scare. I mean I was literally mixing “The Morning” while in the hospital bed. and was man down basically a whole year. I had to watch the little momentum I had come to a halt. As frustrating as that was for me, it made me focus on health and that’s real wealth.
For me, this was the only real challenge.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Music primarily and fashion for others.
I’m not so hung up on trying to find the differences and what sets me apart from others because God did that already. I’m unique. I’m the only one of my kind. My music doesn’t sound like anyone else, especially from South Central.
Moving forward, I want my music to be relatable. I want to find other people who share similar sentiments conveyed through my music and any other form of creation I choose. I know what sets us all apart. I’m more interested in what brings us together you feel me?
The next project is going to be more of that vibe.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The plan is to put out visuals from the last EP. along with the screenplay titled “The Longest Winter”. I’m getting into producing and writing for other artists as well. The only plan moving forward is to inspire enjoy life and get paid.
