Meet Noreeka Webster of Established Clothing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noreeka Webster.

Noreeka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
While in college, I assisted my little sister with customizing denim jackets and gym shoes. That turned into me learning how to sew(self taught). My sister and I decided to go into business together. Starting out we tried several different business names until we chose with Established in December because we were both born in December (DBA Established clothing).

We focused on urban clothing mostly for women and children. Today my sister has gone a different route (starting her own art business). I am still designing and making clothing but with a new purpose. I have a wonderful toddler now, who I plan to start a “mommy and me” brand that will promote the mother and son bond through fashion.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Holding different administrative roles while creating clothing is very challenging. Although I have a bachelor’s degree in business management, I’ve learned a lot through starting the actual business and making mistakes.

Discovering who you are as a person and aligning that with your business is also a hard obstacle. Sometimes the person you become changes and that ultimately changes your business.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Established Clothing – what should we know?
I specialize in designing and sewing clothing. I am most proud of our journey to grow as entrepreneurs and designers in our city. What sets us apart is having had an artist and designer in one business. We were able to come up with custom one of one designs that included hand-painted art.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance. There are a lot of highs and an equal amount of lows in entrepreneurship. Being able to see past current obstacles and believing in your ability to succeed is an important quality.
