Meet Noel Lawrence of Island Rhythms Production in San Gabriel Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noel Lawrence.

Noel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have performed in California for more than 45 years. My father Raymond Lawrence, and his brothers Gerald, and Ken Lawrence were the first steel drum band in the USA they arrived in 1960 They also make and tune steel drums.

We provide Authentic Caribbean Entertainment in the forms of Steel Drum and Reggae bands. Our Steel Drum Band has traveled and tours through sixteen Countries. Our Reggae band members have performed with some of the reggae greats; Eek-A-Mouse, Ras Michael, Buju Banton, Poto Banton. We have made Three tours for the US Troops to Camp Fallujah, Iraq and also in Bosnia and Kosovo our most recent February 2010. We can also provide dancers performing Fire Eating Limbo, and more. As well as DJ’s and Caribbean cuisine with our food catering services.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a musician by trade, I play Drums & Steel Drums. We provide Authentic Caribbean Entertainment, I’m most proud of being able to carry on the legacy that my father & his brothers brought to the world, from Trinidad in 1958. What sets you apart from others is the quality of Caribbean music I provide.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
It’s an excellent place for music like mines. Yes, I would recommend them starting practicing 5,6,7, days a week if they are serious.
