Today we’d like to introduce you to NIMBVS.

NIMBVS, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Our names are Mikeldi, Dylan & Christina and we are NIMBVS. We began our partnership writing and producing for other artists. Forced apart due to Fortuna’s spin of the wheel, we had to start working together over the internet while living on opposite ends of the country; this is why we are called NIMBVS. Our mantra is to do what we love no matter how weird the sonic pallet gets. We like to test the boundaries of technology and create some cool friendship-based, psychedelic, future-pop along the way. Welcome to the cloud.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a bumpy road for sure. In the beginning, it was difficult to find people who would promote our music since our style tends to have a very different/unique sound to it. We never quite fit into any box or existing genre, making it hard for labels or channels to market our sound to their audience, people are always afraid of what’s different. Thankfully our fans started finding our music and more people began gravitating towards its unique characteristics, what was seemingly our weakness became our strength.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
We began our partnership writing and producing for other artists. Our music is frequently featured in places like Billboard and Spotify’s New Music Friday, as well as landing multiple number ones on Hypem.

What makes our music unique is that we are not afraid to get weird or express ourselves in any way, without concern for genre or style, we just do what feels right and create the music we’d like to hear.

We use a video chat app called Zoom to run Ableton Live sessions over the cloud. We each go back and forth adding production elements until we have a vibe. We will usually freestyle melodies and then we’ll chop up and edit that inspiration and form it into a real song. Frequently, we’ll record elements in different keys and pitch them up or down. From the beginning, the goal of NIMBVS was to let go of all the constraints we have when producing for other artists.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our goal is to create music and have it resonate with others. We have an EP we are working on for a 2021 release as well as a few covers in the works. We are also really looking forward to live shows making a comeback because we have a very cool set up we are working on and can’t wait to share it with the world. Lastly, we possibly would like to try and escape the simulation and maybe even make a song in the same room one day 😛
