Meet Niloofar Tehranian of The Silent Note in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niloofar Tehranian.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Niloofar. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Some people ask me are you an architect or are you an entertainment manager? My answer is I’m an ENTERTAINMENT ARCHITECT and I have an amazing journey during this process. I think my name can introduce my character well. My name is Niloofar and it means water lily. Water lily spreads across the water‘s surface, filling it with color and vibrancy all the while keeping the pond and the creatures in it safe and healthy. I was always the center of attention as I am today. A powerful leader who always cares about my team, support and push them forward. A team member who is believer, doer and never underestimate myself. What I can definitely state about myself is that I am an entrepreneur.

I’m thankful to my parent, especially my mother who raise and train me this way. My mom is my role model for life, and she is a dentist and a truly an entrepreneur. I was born during Iran’s revolution 32 years ago. My mom was on her second year at dental school when all the universities were shut off in the whole country for almost four years during the revolution. My mom like most of the young girls married and start to have a family. She was pregnant carrying me when the universities back to normal again. She didn’t want to delay her education because she always says LATER IS NEVER! Thus, we were studying so hard to getting her ready for her exams, lol. Universities were flexible with students, and they let my mom take a newborn baby with her to classes.

As a consequence of revolution and war. I think this is the main reason that I love to study, the dental school was my everyday lullaby… In my teenage years, I remember a day that my mom said we need to have a serious talk about business. She mentioned that she established a new business (importing dental implants) and she needed someone that she could trust to handle the business, and she had trust in me more than anyone!

I remember all her words, she said:” I’m working as a dentist and I’m happy with my job, your dad is a veterinarian, and he is happy with his job too. We make enough for ourselves, but we love you and we want you to have everything you want, your favorite car, travel all over the world and live the best life. Hence, we decided to set up a company, and we want you to help us with managing it as we are working full time.”

I was a proud teenager at that time, my parent trusted me so much and I wanted to prove them they didn’t make a mistake. As a result, from a young age I learned to be a leader and a team member at the same time. I learned how to support the one you love and you care about them. I learn about trusting people abilities while they are nobody! I learned how love can turn an immature teenager to a trusted organize manager. I was trying so hard and I did so well or at least they made it look this way! Who knows?!…

Another big lesson from my mom is to have balance in life. She always said if you have balance in everything and you’re fine. —You want to play games, go party with your friends, get drunk, boyfriend, etc… it’s OK as long as you balance it with studying about it—- And as I mentioned I love to learn and our largest room was our library. I start to balance my life with education and reading book. Psychology topics and learning about different archetypes were my favorite books besides books about relationship and sex…

I love creation, so I decided to study architecture. With a master degree in architecture, the fact that I learned is that architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and building your design. I decided to be the architect of my own career. Plan for it, design it and then build it. I made my own successful career in architecture back in my country (Iran). I had my own architecture firm while I was featured in most of the designer and architecture magazines as a top young architect who wins a couple of competitions. I was the youngest faculty member at the University that I was teaching architecture. Just like a water lily in the pond, I was the center of attention but in fact, I was a bond between hardworking friends and people in my firm. They were an amazing team, and I was so good to support each one of them with love, push them to get the job done and meet all the deadlines.

As a successful young woman in an Islamic country that ruled by conservative men, I faced so many limitations, frustration, and discrimination. I believe, trust and faith in myself. Therefore, I either fight with obstacles or change the situation. Meanwhile, I met the most creative person I ever met in my entire life. Ramin is creative not only in his music but also in his routine conversation, relationship, sense of humor and all the rest… He captured me so effortlessly with his creative magic that I call it love. He was also faced many limitations because of society, and he was about to give up on all his talents and his dreams. Love can be strange sometimes but it can also be a supporter. I was so in love that I care about his happiness more than anything else in the world. I wanted to be his architect this time. As we moved to Los Angeles, I was by his side. As an architect, I gathered information and come up with a strategic plan. I started to build our network and learn from experienced and successful people. I learned about the music business, licensing, and digital marketing. I build a team and a trusted network of individuals and entrepreneurs with goals and dreams.

We started with a recording studio and music production company, and we named it “The Silent Note”. As we were building our career step by step I had a chance to meet with talented artists. Surprisingly, they didn’t know anything about planning, business and how to market themselves. They needed an architect to gather information, plan for them and help them build their dreams. I stepped into the entertainment business with artist development. I helped artists to be authentic, develop their character, design proper costumes for them and turn an artist into a unique brand because of my knowledge in psychology and my design abilities. On the next level, artists needed sponsors to cover the costs of production, expenses, and performances. As a leader and also a team member who always supports my team, I stepped into artist management and then event and concert planning. I produced and managed successful theatrical plays, concerts, gigs, corporate events, and private parties and got positive feedback from people, clients and artists that I have been worked with. We all grow together and I’m thankful that my team has faith in me. I believe if we climb that mountain together we make it to the top, and we still have a long way to go…. Now here I am. I’m an entertainment architect and I’m planning to build the entertainment business the way I designed.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, it wasn’t smooth. In fact, I faced lots of challenges. The immigration itself, saying goodbye to your family and friends, giving up all the hard work, an established career and then start it again with no money, no enough knowledge and in a different field is enough to crush a person. But life is easy if you take it easy. Life is so simple to me. Live the way that I feel. I’m living my dream right now and this is because I let myself to dream. I let myself to live the way that I want to live. Some people limit themselves, they are doing a job that they don’t like because they don’t let themselves to do what they want to do. They pretend to be people that they are not because society teaches them living a lie. My advice to all the people is to follow where your heart belongs. Then you will become a sponge, soaking up everything you can, creating loads of neural connections and schematic networks. You’ll learn the left-brained logic and rules so your right brain can have limitless freedom to break the rules and create. Then try to help people and share what you have been learned. The teacher is always the one who learns the most.

The most important factor to cope with all the challenges is to face the fears. I raised to be fearless in business as much as I’m afraid of speed, height and birds! After spending so much time and talking to artists I find out that they have fear of not getting successful, or they ask if there is any plan B, in case plan A didn’t worked out. I believe When the why is strong enough, the how is easily found. Why you choose this career? If you choose it to be successful and happy you need to know that success and happiness are feelings. You need to choose a career that works for you and makes you happy. Not a job that you need to work for it… I let myself to be who I am, a leader, a supporter and I enjoy the ride, destination might change as I might change in my life. There is no plan b as I’m not afraid of failure. If I faced an obstacle I either fight with it or change it and during this journey I changed a lot from dental implant Company to architecture and then artist development, artist management and event planner, and I enjoyed every second of it.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Silent Note story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a manager at “The Silent Note” which is an entertainment company. Our recording studio is on downtown where I had an opportunity to meet with talented artists. My main goal is to support our artists for their major success journey and that’s what sets us separate from every other recording studio and music production company. We care about our team, and we treat them as a family. We are connected with thousands of successful and professional artists. __ dancers, musicians, stage designers, photographers, videographers, actors, etc. __ We can introduce our members to each other and our sponsor’s network. Together we can create art that lasts forever. My special services are artist development which includes costume design and character design, artist management, stage design, and event planning.

What I’m really proud of is my intention to expand the creative power of those who have similar beliefs to present their creativity and to generate public support and interest in areas that affect the larger world. We are dedicated to providing a forum for creative dialogue between artists and the public on both local and international levels.
