Meet Niki Cozmo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niki Cozmo.

Niki, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Definitely. At 22 years old, I lost my dad suddenly in a traumatic way. His death shook my reality tremendously. This extreme life-altering experience, at such a tender age, set me on a wild journey of seeking the deeper meaning of everything. I wanted to understand the essence of life, death, love, pain and healing. This soul-searching journey led me on a magnificent seven-year exploration around the world. I lived in different countries such as Australia, Costa Rica, Thailand and India. I spent years traveling through an array of colorful lands learning contrasting ways of living and healing.

Five years later while living in Thailand, without warning, my mom suddenly passed away. This unforeseen struggle set me on a path towards healing even deeper. I was broken wide open. At this point, I was already a certified Thai Massage Therapist, a Reiki Healer and a Yogi but I knew I wanted to take my healing studies much further. I delved into herbology and natural medicine. I worked closely with medical Marijuana, specifically CBD strains for children with epilepsy and cancer patients. I even opened my own apothecary. However, this point in my life asked me to become more inward, quiet and reserved. I meditated daily, channeled my healing from within and stayed quite grounded.

What happened two years later, most wouldn’t believe. My younger sister, my only sibling, also passed away suddenly. My entire universe caved in. I felt lost and confused. It took some time to ease my troubled mind, however, I knew there was a much bigger meaning to all of this. I set out to make a difference in the world. I knew that if I could survive the losses of all of my family members and learn to heal, that I could share that wealth of knowledge with others and help them heal too.

I became passionate about Spiritual Counseling and Somatic Therapy. I now dedicate much of my time to serving others with my story, lending an ear and offering my services. My greatest honor is being able to guide others into new ways of finding peace and solace in their lives when all feels lost. What the last 11 years have taught me is that my trauma is a tool for transformation.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. My life catapulted me into some of the most beautiful places and experiences, albeit some of the absolute darkest and most challenging. I struggled with my identity, my worthiness and bouts of deep depression. Experiencing PTSD symptoms such as these, while trying to survive as a functioning human on this planet, can feel nearly impossible at times! Not to mention working on becoming an entrepreneur without all of that extra baggage is difficult in its own right!

There were many days and nights I wanted to give up. I always say healing is a journey, not a place we get to. I do not believe one day we wake up and are healed. So even I, a Spiritual Counselor, still have my moments. It is important for people to know that. We are all here figuring it out together.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Cozmo Counseling is the umbrella under which all of my offerings exist. Spiritual Counseling and Somatic Therapy then branch off under that. Depending on which route one may desire to take, whether more of a talk-therapy style or a body-oriented approach, we then go from there. Every single session is unique and tailored to the client. I specialize in a deeply empathic way of holding space and work closely with artists, visionaries and anyone who has experienced trauma or loss.

I am known for my keen ability to hear my clients’ needs (body, mind and spirit) and my intuitive abilities. I am truly proud of just how far Cozmo Counseling has come. Mastering my art and overcoming gigantic hurdles from the day my dad passed away until this very moment, feels like a huge victory! Just as most entrepreneurial ventures (and life ventures), it has taken many interesting, yet enlightening roads to get here! What sets me apart from others is my unique life experiences. The day I realized experiencing death is an initiation, is the day I grabbed that potent knowledge and started really doing something with it. 11 years later, here I am, bringing forth exceptionally powerful healing to you!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is the journey as opposed to the goal. It is the path you are on and the level of peace you feel while cruising. I believe if you love what you do, are able to serve humanity, and support yourself at the same time, those are markers for a successful state of being. Building good rapport with people, putting yourself out into the world, taking leaps of faith, and being vulnerable enough to fail, and try again are also good markers. If you are courageous and have inner peace and joy, then that is a success.
