Meet Nicole Humphrey of Pathways to Ascension

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Humphrey.

Nicole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey towards healing began with myself and is centered around African spiritual practices. I was introduced to Ifa, a system of divination and religion of the Yoruba people when I moved to Los Angeles from Brooklyn (my hometown is Chicago). My spiritual practices centered around an ancestor altar that included my parents at the forefront, crystal healing, candle dressing and lunar moon ritual.

I attended a Reiki Retreat from Women of Color in 2018 that inspired me to learn how to use this modality to add to my personal toolkit. I enrolled in Reiki I at The Salt Lounge in Long Beach in which I began practicing on myself. Following Reiki I, I moved on to Reiki II and began supporting communities and individuals with healing. This propelled me to continue my learning at The Salt Lounge in Akashic Reading as well. The educator in me is passionate about sharing information to others and the life-learner in me continues to be educated.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been challenging in how my time is spent. By day, I am Dean of Students at a Middle School. In the evenings and weekends, I take one on one clients and vend at events such as Second Saturday at Ra Ma East and 21 Sundays a series of pop-up events showcasing black women entrepreneurs. I’ve found that vending gets me exposure but one on one clients are my heart’s joy.

I’ve been an educator for over ten years. While being an educator is apart of my life’s purpose, I feel myself moving into unconventional teaching focusing on spiritual wellness.

Pathways to Ascension – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I offer reiki services, chakra balancing, and spiritual coaching. I’ve added spiritual tools to support others with creating practices that work best for them such as moon magic ritual bath soak, smudge wands and what’s new to come are chakra waist beads.

What I’m most proud of is the responses I’ve received from clients. Following a reiki session I ask that the client reflects on the experience and pay close attention to what came up for them. One of the most responses I received “When she was done I felt so light! I didn’t realize the emotional weight I was carrying around. I’ve been telling everyone about this-everyone should have this done. Your energy is so important and if you aren’t protecting it, harnessing it correctly I believe it can be damaging. I am so thankful for this experience.”

We all have our gifts that serve their purpose. My gift is my connection to spirit and ability to trust myself. I am an intuitive empath that is connected to the ancestral realm. Each reiki session is uniquely designed for the client and follows up with a cognitive coaching session. I’ve intertwined my work as an educational leader with my work as a reiki practitioner and spiritual guide.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The best is yet to come but I’m proud as mentioned at the responses I get from my clients that affirm that I am doing God’s work.
