Meet Nicole Fisher of Nikole Tahni

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Fisher.

Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Before the pandemic, I was working three jobs trying to support my two boys as a single parent. When the pandemic hit, overnight I was out of two of my jobs, and the boys were out of school. I was one of those single moms that wasn’t eligible for unemployment or welfare. And, for the first time since college I was actually stuck. Without help and/or childcare, I didn’t know what to do. Living in California, one job just isn’t enough for bills, food, etc. That’s when I started selling T-shirts for my oldest son who was autistic, to show him how to make his own money. Little did I know that eventually that would spark another idea and turn into a profitable business for myself.

In addition to the T-shirts, I started selling face masks. It started off slowly, as I didn’t have much money for materials. One day, I don’t even know how, but I stumbled across Etsy. I decided to give it a try. I went from a little money and few sales to now making hundreds of dollars in a few days. Then eventually thousands, in a week.

I started to do more research and figured out that I could sell more masks if I was able to get more funds. I started to sell masks without having my own money first. I would charge customers and use their money to fill the orders. Next thing you know I was too busy. I remember, one weekend I packaged close to 200 orders by hand.

In the beginning, I did everything myself. Once the demand increased, I had to get help from family members to help package orders. My Etsy shop did over 20k in a few months and I just couldn’t believe it. I had always dreamed of having my own store but never felt like it was obtainable because of all the overhead costs. Etsy made me an online store owner without all the red tape.

Now my store has grown and I am launching a website for my new online clothing store, Nikole Tahni, very soon. My new website will be featuring men’s, women’s and select children’s items and can be found at Also my Etsy shop is still open and face masks are still in stock.

I am so honored to have had this experience and am glad to share my story because maybe it will inspire someone else to know it’s possible! Not everyone’s idea of success looks the same and just because you don’t have all the resources in the world doesn’t mean there’s not an opportunity for you!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of the struggles I faced was of course, the ups and downs. Some days are better selling days than others and trying to navigate that part of the business. Also of course, I’m still a mom which is my number one priority. So just learning how to have that balance and still run a profitable business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nikole Tahni LLC?
Currently, my company specializes in face masks and apparel. Men, women, and children’s clothing. What sets us apart is that some of our merch revolves around black issues and sports. During the George Floyd marches, we were prominent in political attire and created a “Black Lives Matter” t-shirt/face masks combo that was sold out! Our company will continue to speak out against injustice or any other issues in our community. That’s the foundation of our business!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe hard work, determination and thinking outside the box has been the most important characteristics necessary for our success.
