Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Caudillo.
Nicole caudillo is a nine years licensed cosmetologist and colorist who specializes in the art of men’s haircutting. Growing up in San Diego, California she started her career by partnering with an Aveda owned salon but about two years into her career caudillo realized she wanted to dive into the art of men’s cutting and took at job at men’s salon on the navy base doing 10$ haircuts before she moved to Los angles California where she now is a stylist and color artist in West Hollywood at shorty’s barbershop.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“It has not been a smooth road even starting back in beauty school!” Nicole says. “I was in school longer than anyone I know and because of how much I was juggling at the time, I ended up doing day and night school 16 hrs a day for the last two months of my schooling! I knew it was all going to be worth it and that this career was going to give me a future but I didn’t know when and where.” Nicole says she struggled to find her spot in the industry trying to fit in at shops that didn’t meet her personal standards. “At some point, you just stop saying yes and start saying I’m sorry no thank you and move on.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
“I’m the lady barber!” Nicole says what sets her apart is her personality unique style and visual hair cutting techniques. “ I am most proud of the grounding and professionalism I have taken on that has challenged me but made me the strong stylist I am today.”
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
“I feel this industry is growing !” Nicole says, “when I think about the future, I look at my past and I think about how much I have done the places I have gone and the things I have done and learned, and based on all of that there’s really no telling the opportunities are endless this field will always be full and open for business this industry will always be here after covid 19 things might be a bit different but we will keep going. I’d like to study and become double licensed so I can further my education, travel the world for educational purposes, and maybe even help teach some education classes.”
