Today we’d like to introduce you to Nekaya Carter.
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, it was destined for Nekaya to one day run a business of her own. Raised by a real estate investor and a real estate broker, it was only natural for Nekaya to embrace the industry. Watching her Dad own, sale, fix up and ultimately providing for her family and her Mom also working as a sales agent at Century 21 and eventually succeed into opening her own brokerage, inspired her to purchase her first property as the young age of 22. She became an employee at her Mom’s real estate brokerage as a credit specialist, in which she assisted buyers with all their credit needs while educating clients about how the credit bureaus operate and how important their credit is. Licensed for just over thirteen years, she started her career as a salesperson and quickly obtained her broker’s license. She is the Vice President at the Consolidated Board of Realtist which is a local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers. She is a member of the South Bay Board of Realtors and she has specialization in residential and commercial sales.
About eighteen months ago, she launched the first Women Elevating Women: A Day of Health, Wealth & Empowerment event. This is a community-driven event aimed at educating and elevating women on a range of topics which include investing, homeownership, co-parenting, survivorship, business intimacy, grief support, self-care, fitness, hydration, organization and so much more.
Before launching into real estate, she obtained her bachelor’s degree at UC Berkeley and went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Sport Management. She leads, trains, and motivates her team to communicate and guide you throughout the entire transaction with expertise and ease. Inspired by the loving memory of her father, Carter & Carter Investments will continue to be the family operated and owned enterprise he envisioned.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life hasn’t been a smooth road. But as humans and as women especially, we have to take a moment to cry about it, be mad about it, vent about it, but then actually go DO something about it. Being an entrepreneur takes dedication, consistency, heart & WORK!
Please tell us about Carter & Carter Investments.
I’m the Broker/Owner of Carter & Carter Investments and the Founder of Women Elevating Women: A Day of Health, Wealth & Empowerment.
I run a full-service brokerage that consists of all women. We specialize in elevating women which is why Women Elevating Women was created. We have assisted several single ladies and single mothers obtain the goal of homeownership and will continue to do so. And of course, we help men too!
We also have a partnership with Operation Hope & Union Bank in which we educate the community on credit and how to acquire a home at Compton College every 2nd Saturday of the month.
We educate. We elevate. We empower.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I believe everything happens for a reason. I appreciate all the people who I know but don’t recognize anymore. They are my biggest motivation.
