Meet Natasha Buitrago of Natashab.TheExperience in Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Buitrago.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I first started pole dancing in 2013, it was because I needed help finding my confidence after realizing I was going through a depression after having my 1st child. My depression didn’t look like the commercials until one day, I saw something that resembled what I was going through and made me realize what I was feeling. I needed to fix this, but how.

My answer was GET OFF MY BUTT and get moving. I’ve always been interested in pole so after much research, I found a place I wanted to try but was still hesitant because of my size. I had the talent but not the confidence. My friend said, let’s go and so began my dance journey.

Within my 1st class I fell in love. The pole is a scary beast if you let it. I was a student for about two years before I was asked to become an instructor. I was hesitant because I didn’t want the responsibility of other people depending on me but that was my fear speaking. The other students encouraged me until I caved in. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was def NOT an easy road. Pole dancing comes with a lot of judgment. Pole dancing is always associated with stripping/sex work, and that is not always the case. While some learn for that reason, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, some want to learn just for the fitness, but that doesn’t stop the judgment from friends and family.
Being a pole instructor comes with a lot of pressure. Pressure to keep people in your class, pressure to make sure you keep your material fresh and different from others, and pressure on yourself to continue to love what has now become a job.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Natashab.TheExperience – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Red Light was the class I came up with and brought to the studio. There were other floorwork classes and I wanted to be a little different so not to step on any OG toes. The class features sensual dance, floorwork, and freestyling but under only red lights; it makes women feel sexy and free knowing people can’t easily see them.

What sets my class apart is ME.

I am known for her memorable delivery of candid encouragement. The ultimate goal of my unique brand is to motivate women to feel confident. I inspire women through my charismatic teaching of dance, immense presence and authenticity. Reminding them, it’s ok to be unapologetic of who they are. I create spaces free of judgment to help ignite a culture of basking in the glory of womanhood.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Born and raised here, I love most things about my city, but the weather I love most. I am a bask in the sun type of girl.

I dislike the traffic of course. The more people that transplant here the worse it gets!
