Meet Natalie Nova

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Nova.

Hi Natalie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out singing since childhood and then later was mostly classically trained vocally growing up. Natalie Nova is my Solo Artist Project, as well as I am the lead singer and guitarist of metal band, Beyond The Roots. Both projects just recently had a double music release on 2/22/22. Beyond The Roots band released debut EP entitled “Rites Of Passage.” The same day on 2-2-Tuesday, Natalie Nova released a single called “Infinite,” as well! Aside from a few early bands, I mostly started out playing live as an MC over DJ sets when I moved to the Bay Area. I then later started DJing, producing and playing live sets with vocals and now currently with my DJ project adding more live instrumentation including guitar and more. I moved back to LA after playing and producing many events in Northern California and attended music school for a few years at the Musicians Institute, which I then formed my metal band Beyond The Roots. Then a few years later, my rock and metal fusion solo project, Natalie Nova. Only about a year ago, I started an events proaction for extreme underground music called Roots Productions and have been producing shows ever since as well as playing them!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
All musicians know all the obstacles and challenges that we face, especially in a digital and ever-evolving industry. Especially as a female, us ladies know the obstacles these challenges as well not only in a male-dominated society, industry but in rock and metal a male-dominated genre specifically as well. Many artists and singer-songwriters know the DIY tactic and how challenging it can become especially with getting your music out there and actually heard by and to make an actual impact on people. A struggle we as a society face, I think is the message is missing in a majority of it all, as well as intention. We struggle to see the bigger picture of things as a collective, working together and coming together through music. But together, We Rise. We will overcome.
