Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Bolton.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Southern girl by birth, but I have been mesmerized with the West Coast State of Mind as early as I can remember. As soon as I found my moment to take the leap, I packed a U-Haul and hit the road. As an introvert, it is kind of funny I’ve always chosen jobs that would cause me to connect with people. I love learning about people. I was a personal trainer for many years, and I believe that is where my love for results and transformation began. And it wouldn’t be long before my long-standing curiosity with how the skin functions (I would perform facial treatments on my friends in junior high) finally led me to enroll in school. Now I can see the running theme in my life: Connection, creativity, transformation, healing and empowering are just some of the things I aspire to create and be a part of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My path has not been flat road linear, nor has it been without the out-of-the-blue sharp left turns. I know all of our journeys are incredibly unique, personal and relative to our own experiences, but I can say I have learned some hard lessons along the way. But at this point through every experience, I would say they ultimately brought me closer to myself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Skin Sacred?
Skin Sacred is my little hub for all things skin health, energetic cleansing, and overall well-living. In regards to my skincare, I believe there is a beautiful intersection where natural, of-the-earth intelligence meets clinical science. And as a Skin Therapist, finding myself at this crossing has been such a wonderful place to hang out. I love to look deeper into a client’s overall well-being to gain information for what is happening on the surface of the skin. Our skin tells us everything and it’s up to us to listen, understand and implement that information. I have had amazing results with acne and with slowing the aging process. And because I look at the skin as just a single part of our whole system, looking deeper into what’s functioning efficiently or sluggishly provides so much information. I work with Reiki and sound and other modalities to elevate and soothe the energetics of a client. A skin issue can simply be a result of living life in 2021! External stressors, pollutants, dysregulated/frazzled nervous systems all play a part in every facet of our lives. Sometimes all a client needs is to come to my treatment room and find 90 minutes of calm. I feel so grateful to do this work with my clients. I do not receive their trust lightly. It is my highest honor, and I feel that’s what makes Skin Sacred the brand and service that it is.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
My vision for the beauty industry is that the industry leads from a place of empowerment and acceptance as opposed to fear and lack. I think we’re constantly tempted to seek out our “not enough-ness” through subtle and not so subtle messaging. Wanting skin treatments, personal self-care and the desire to minimize say, crow’s feet is a personal choice. We can want these things AND also have a deep knowing that we are enough just the way we are. We can live in both worlds. I personally LOVE smile lines and crinkles in the nose where someone has spent a lifetime in joy and it shows. Those are my favorite parts of a face. AND I also understand when a client wants to retain just a bit of their youth, I understand that too. I see my industry taking a really deep dive into authenticity and normalizing what’s real and unique and imperfect. Yes, we all like the fun filters on social, but I anticipate the idea of Beauty and what we deem beautiful evolving in a rather remarkable way. This (r)evolution has already begun.
