Meet Moreno Spangaro of Puro Vegan Gelato in Hermosa Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moreno Spangaro.

Moreno, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Living an unusual and out of the ordinary childhood, life took me through places and situations that have changed my life forever. I’ m a person constantly in search of the truth, in search of the deepest part of what we are made of an incredibly lucky to have found amazing answers…

I think that is not difficult at all to make money, you just need to invest your entire time and energy in just doing that, living behind what is way more important, also if it is not morally right then I can’t jump in any kind of business that goes against this simple rule. Time is not money, that’s terribly wrong…..Time is Freedom and you must invest your time in the best way possible respecting nature, respecting animal life, respecting life in general at the highest level and so respecting your self…that’s the only way for me.

My latest Puro Vegan Gelato project started right there, it starts dropping animal product and especially dropping Products and ingredients that come from abused animals, this project gives me a feeling of freedom, peace, and happiness. I had the proof of the connection between food and our final destination in life and beyond that, the connection between quantum physics and our choices not only in what we do and how we do it but also in what we eat…but this is a very long and complex story.

So Puro Vegan Gelato was also born on this ground without compromises and short cuts, without thinking of money or success (which is not difficult to obtain) but on clean and pure principle. There is much much more to be said but this is another story. I do believe in making a product 100% sustainable and morally executable by the true way of life, love, and care because at the end we will be accountable for all we did and are.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road is never easy and pain-free when you have to deal with so much confusion in people’s life, it is not easy when there is so much deceiving information all around us and everything is based on money, profit, and image. I’ve been working on these recipes for over one year and that was not easy but at the end, the result tells all and repay all the thousands of hours invested in research to build up this product. For sure I love my product and the plan for the future connected with this project is what keeps us going forward

Puro Vegan Gelato – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Puro Vegan Gelato idea started back in Italy three years ago. We make the entire gelato line water base using (for real) the best ingredients on the market and cooking all the gelato bases entirely from scratch, we use the best chocolates and cocoa such as Criollo cocoa powder. We import our pistachio directly from Sicily from the lady that has the pistachio plantation at the bottom of the volcano Etna and as far as quality this pistachio is second to none.The hazelnut comes from Piemonte Italy also known as the best.All our fruits flavors are fresh and organic, no fruit paste or frozen is used. Our Coffee gelato is made with 30 shots of premium organic expresso for each pan. What set us apart is that we don’t buy any premade product from any gelato company or any premade bases which is incredibly rare these days…believe me!

Everything is artisan handcrafted by us using only the best ingredients… The life shelf of this product especially inside a display case is way longer than a dairy base gelato or ice cream and this is another strong point about our product. We provide gelato to some restaurants such as Pura Vita in West Hollywood (first and only Italian vegan restaurant in America), Double Zero by Matthew Kenney (plant based pizza), also New Deli by Matthew Kenney in Venice carries our pints and Pura Vita as well, Mauro’s Cafe at Fred Segal on Melrose also have some of our flavors. We do also private events and we can provide the entire line of our gelato to anyone who. Would love to have a display case with our product.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally believe that you must count the level of success later in life, looking back at our moral achievements and personal success as human being and not counting business success as far as money, power or how famous and popular you might have been. I believe you can count success upon the numbers of life that has been positively changed and influenced in a good way through actions and words. If success is defined by popularity, richness, and power, then the man subjected to that type of success is someone I’m not interesting in getting to know. If a man achieves success through exceptional humanitary skills and is able to influence the mass trough those skills and on top of it carries with him monetary success and power then his very welcome but his high power ,money, and fame must be a weapon to deliver an exceptional message to the mass involving God entirely for his exceptionally humanitary skills.
